Andy’s “mood” in the photo is his reaction to the flash going off when I photographed him. Me? My mood is a genuinely grumpy mood today.
Why? Those fools in Washington continue to drive toward a Pyrrhic victory, each claiming a “win” over the other. Neither will win anything at this point worth the loss America suffers now in goodwill, civil order, world approbation, economic growth, the ongoing “governance” by manufactured crisis.
The party of balanced budget costs the country $160,000,000 a day with this shutdown. This is Day Fifteen: They are reckless hypocrites

wrapped in the Gadsden flag, the flag usually thought of as the flag of the Confederate States of America, and the Stars & Stripes in several versions. They stage photo ops using WWII veterans. They tear down barriers they caused to be put up when they shut down the US Government. For what? Perhaps you remember this:

Regardless of the impending consequences, I know the two sides will blame each other for the disasters associated with this BS, that the American public will not have been served, that the rhetoric will continue, that Congress will continue to “govern” by manufactured crisis letting real national problems grow for lack of attention. They’ll even throw in a default to further destabilize the economy of the US and the world if they can! Bastards one and all.
Clearly, I see the Republicans as the main villains in this manufactured crisis, though it is mostly the Ted Cruz shutdown. The Republicans call it the fault of the Democrats or President Obama. WHO CARES WHAT YOU SAY!? You all are wrong, you all failed, you each bear responsibility. STOP IT! The damage is done. Or, perhaps, just started.
Yes. I am in a grumpy mood today. Vote them ALL out of office. Let history sort out who is a hero or a traitor to the American nation.
They REALLY are a waste of time.
I mean most of them don’t give a damn about the average joe who are just vote fodder – or not.
They lie like anything. I remember when there was a bit of scandal here about which of them had smoked or tried pot when they were younger, in university or whatever, and they just about ALL said they hadn’t ever but it was so easy to tell they were lying, as mostly their faces were beaming or they couldn’t help but smile, or some such other expression which almost certainly revealed that they had, or why smile? It made a great news item. Of course, it’s one law for them and another one for everyone else.
Here they are called Right Honourable as a title, but many think it ought to be something more like Right Scandalous. Some of them had obviously cooked the books to such an extent that it must have taken up most of their working life to organise it all. Shocking! My friend says they are like “pigs at the trough” and I think that’s true.
Here’s a couple of paras from an article which shows what it’s like. Note the quartered prison sentence when he only got nine months in the first place:
“Hanningfield was one of six MPs and peers jailed for fraud, and one of hundreds judged to have wrongfully claimed expenses in Britain’s great parliamentary scandal. Like many of those who have been vilified, he seems to consider himself more wronged than wrongdoer; a victim of a dysfunctional system.
So what did he do? He claimed for overnight stays in London when he had returned to his Essex home and, on one occasion, was actually on a plane to India. In an interview with police in August 2009, he claimed he had been “singled out” and had simply done “the same as 500 or 600 other peers”. In May 2011 he was found guilty on all six counts of false accounting and sentenced to nine months in prison. After serving nine weeks, he was released on home detention curfew.”
If someone stopped their salary there would no doubt be uproar, outrage and upheaval, with lots of fuss made until it was reinstated. That’s if they ever would stop it in the first place, as I think that is probably the LAST thing they would do.
I return to earlier forms of punishment for people who fail in their public office duties: impaling, decapitation, tar-and-feathering, hanging, um, etc.!
There is a problem with people in power that manifests itself because there is inadequate oversight of their behavior…i.e. inadequate supervision. The problem is a sense of entitlement because they were handed keys to power in an election. To that point I note, again, the motto above the North portal of the Nebraska State Capitol, “The salvation of the state is watchfulness in the citizen.” Every citizen is responsible for the quality of government we get.
