Post 588: …hangin’

I can’t think of a better way to spend a cold (8°F/ -13.3°C) morning than just hangin’!

Yes, Andy, Dougy, and I are doing just about nothing. The cat brothers ate their yummy trout/salmon wet cat food, cleaned up, then took their posts in the front room. I haven’t had breakfast yet, but wrapped myself in my comforter to watch a little television or the cats, whichever gave more entertainment!

Dougy on his favorite ottoman, Andy on the cat liounger, and their cardboard playground on the left. (Today, though, they didn't want to play just yet. I wanted to get a video of it. Maybe later.)

Yeah, Dougy gets very upset if Andy or I try to use the ottoman. He chases and beats Andy up and just gives me the eye till I move my feet. He is a regular tyrant!

"You don't plan on putting your big feet on my ottoman, do you?!"

“You don’t plan on putting your big feet on my ottoman, do you?!”

Of course, I move my feet. Dougy doesn’t put up with intrusions on his space!

"Shhhh! Don't upset Dougy, Andy!"

“Shhhh! Don’t upset Dougy, Andy!”

"Unh oh... Dougy's stirring!"

“Unh oh… Dougy’s stirring!”

"Dougy has left the auditorium." Yes, my little primo don (if there is such a thing) decides to take a hike.

“Dougy has left the auditorium.” Yes, my little rock’em sock’em star decides to take a hike.

Dougy takes the cat highway.

Dougy takes the cat highway.

The boys could walk straight through the front room to the fountain or feeding station, but they prefer to hop on top of the recliner, jump over to either my computer chair or the computer desk, then leap to the settee.

The blue carrier that’s Andy’s personal territory is on the settee, so Dougy, of course, likes to hop onto that so his stink is there to upset his brother, then jump to the floor on the opposite side to get a drink. Of course, sometimes he leaps from the settee to the cat tree.

When Andy leaves the room, he’ll follow a similar route, starting with a leap from the lounger to the top of the stacked carriers next to it. I’d love to stick the carriers away in a closet, but the boys like to sleep in them. In fact, the last time I couldn’t find Dougy to take him and his brother to the groomer, he was sleeping, conveniently, in the bottom carrier, making his capture a simple deal.

  1. So they like the kitty highway. Alway stay high not low on the ground. The boys are like that too. Watching it snow here, trying to figure out how to not leave my couch and comforts of my cat/dog pile 🙂 Hope you all stay warm!

    • We had light snow here today, too, and it’s about as warm (7°F/13.9°C) now as when I got up (8°F/13.3°C). The boys found their own little cozy spots, and I sit right under a heat source when at the computer. Other than that, I’ve wrapped up in my comforter…! Yeah, the kitty highway also allows the boys to avoid me petting them when they have important cat business to take care of. They think I don’t know…. (Boo hoo!)
