Dougy came first. He heard the birds at the feeder across the lane.
Nothing much here to see! Just a plump, juicy house sparrow is all!
Maybe there isn’t much to see, but Andy still had to stop by to join Dougy at the front door.
Dougy notices Doug (the human one) sneaking over to the door, and he high tails it. (Well, “low tails it” because it’s more stealthy!) Andy, fixated on the snow by the door, doesn’t notice the drama unfolding…!

[Sniff! Sniff! Sniff!] Then a flurry of legs and hands, and Andy finds himself…
…wrapped in the white towel! He spots the medicine bottle on the table. This can only mean one thing!
Time for his blood pressure medicine, and once again he got lost in cat business, forgot to pay attention to what Doug (the human one) was up to. Yes, wrapped in the white towel, he’s about to get a dose of blood pressure medicine. ICK! Andy resigns himself to his fate.
After Doug (the human one) reassured Andy he was a good boy and massaged his shoulders and neck till the tension left them, Andy jumped to the floor for his kitty treats, then he hopped on top of his happy place, the blue carrier, to groom and reclaim his cattitude and self-respect.
All’s well that ends well. Later, Andy joined Doug (the human one) at the computer desk, where Andy snuggled into a little ball and slept the sleep only a cat can sleep. He slept there till “time to feed the kitties” time.

Cats do ensure we keep thinking creatively. Some of them also ensure we develop quick reflexes to get limbs out of the way of “playful” claws.

There’ve been some more follows since the first note. Whew! As recently as October 8th, I had only 331 follows, now it’s 410. This is the fastest change since I started this blog in 2009.

I have no doubt that was a part of it, Marc-Andre! Thanks again! I also added more categories to tick off instead of using just tags to catch readers. I think that was Tom (or you?) who suggested that. I think Tom and my joint blog on blogs pumped the numbers up a bit as well. My only concern is growing too fast now. I like the contact with those regulars like you who post comments here, as do I on their blogs.
Yeah growing too fast is one danger… I just dont have the time to post on everyones blog that comments on mine anymore :(. And that suggestion must have been Tom! Tho I do the same. 🙂
It is a challenge. I do this blog for the fun it gives me, so that’s the biggest risk to me, that it stops being fun.

And he does not hide away from you forever after that? I just spilled (deliberately) some medication for my Tom’s heart unto his fur. Evening no. 1 – he licked part of it off, was not amused. Evening no. 2 – he did not lick it off – it dried and stuck in his fur. And evening no. 3 – he did not come near me anymore! Had to give that up.
It amazes me how mild-mannered Persian cats are. Though Andy doesn’t like the medicine and makes work to catch him, he doesn’t struggle or try to get away from me once he’s in my arms. Sometimes he struggles a bit when I wrap the towel on him, but he calms down quickly. I massage his neck and shoulders till I feel the tension go out from them, talk softly to him, then give him the medicine. He tries to avoid the medicine, but is ok after he gets it. In little time, he’ll come yo me for an ear rub or to be pet, so he is basically pretty cool about the medicine. My only problem is making sure he doesn’t suspect I’m after him to catch him till I am in a position to pick him up!

Pure terror…! He calms down quickly enough when I massage his shoulders, but I have permanent indentations in my right shoulder from where he holds on, tense, till I get him to relax!
Well – no running around the house today with the medicine in hand, eh? Try that trick with other lures at the door some day.
Trapping Andy at the door is a pretty reliable trick. He always gets engrossed in whatever they find fascinating about the open door, and it’s just a matter of applying a few tricks I learned between semesters one summer working on a cattle when I was a young guy. “Yeehaw! Get along little kitty!”
