Post 710: the grocery inspector…

Grocery day always is exciting for the boys. I open the door, hands straining under the weight of several shopping bags, and there they are: Andy and Dougy, the grocery inspectors!

Of course, Andy didn’t stay to be photographed today because he thought I was getting ready to catch him to give him medicine when I set down the last of the bags…! (The thought occurred! 🙂 )

That left the inspection up to Dougy and Dougy alone.

High above the scene, Dougy surveys the bags awaiting inspection...!

A plan of attack formulated, Dougy hops to the floor.

Whew! At ground level, the size of the task becomes evident!

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step!" Dougy notes. "Let the inspection begin! One potato..., two potatoes..., three potatoes...."

“Let the inspection begin! One potato…, two potatoes…, three potatoes….”

That was pretty exhausting for both Doug and Dougy, so Doug retired to the computer – natch! – with a tub of yummy Greek yoghurt (peach-flavored) made from milk of contented Colorado cows. He had a visitor. This wasn’t on the inspection tour…was it?!

"This is MY yoghurt, Dougy! MINE! MINE! MINE!" The cat brothers are the only selfish ones in this household! Hee! Hee!

    • Very true, and it applies across the board, even for those things cats have no particular use for or ability to use. (Computer keyboard, for example…!)

    • Or supposed treats, too! They were interested in some mint Oreos, but chocolate and sugar are not for kitties. It must remind them of catnip, which is a member of the mint family, of course.

    • Andy came back later to lick the plastic potato bag. That cat..! Dougy came back, too, but just watched while I put things away. (I did it in waves, with breaks in between since I’m a beat up old guy and need to rest sometimes.)

  1. hehe….great job Dougy! Some of the stuff the pawents get…well, I wouldn’t give you a furball for….potatoes…what do they do with these….roll them around? Seriously?
Keep up the good work my friend.

    • Dougy says to tell you he is clueless about those potatoes. Too big to bat around and they don’t taste good. Must hold down papers with them or something. Anyway, Dougy does great work, and will be reward with kitty treats once the groceries are put away. (He gets out of doing that since he can’t reach the cupboards…!)

      • I never thought of paperweights as a job for potatoes but hey Dougy, you might just have hit the jackpot with that one. You get kitty treats for id’ing stuff….we don’t and that’s not fair! Enjoy your treats my friend and revel in the thought that you’re getting something we don’t.

      • He was more occupied with Andy and chasing him than getting his snack, but he came around whining later, saddened that he didn’t get his snack yet. La-la-la. So I gave it to him!

  2. That looked like a monumental task for one feline! I must say it’s nice to see someone still takes pride in a job well done. Standards are so low these days.
