The day started out blah. By afternoon, though, things picked up significantly!
Here’s a short vided of what the boys saw and what Dougy found so fascinating:

I am totally with Andy. It’s a week into summer and today is 59 degrees and rainy. Feels like October.
Yeah, rain makes things nice (and cool!) after a short time.
Gorgeous cats. I’ll bet they take some brushing.
They actually aren’t that bad. Dougy has a denser undercoat than Andy, so needs more brushing as a rule, but neither needs a lot of it.
I love cats. You never know what you’re going to see them do.
Very true! They are very entertaining!
Unbelievable; can imagine that the boys were surprised :).
That they were!
Dougy no doubt thought it was arranged for his benefit.
Which, of course, it was! Nothing’s too good for my kitties. LOL!
Oh man snow in the end of May. What in the world. The boys are looking good, so bright eyes and alert.
Thanks! Yes, the boys are looking great and both are ornery as ever!
Ugh, you have my sympathies. Its chilly here but no snow. I am with Andy, I would run for cover until summer! Thanks for the video!
I hadn’t made a video for a time, so was glad for the snow since Dougy always reacts in a cute way to it. He loves the snow!
The video showed his playful side; whereas, the stills show his dignified cattitude. He is a cutie. They both are, of course.
Yeah, the photos were more dignified looks at the boys, but they looked more like the video in real life! They are so cute when there is something interesting happening outside!
How adorable!😸
Hee! Hee! It was a Dougy the Persian cat day! He loves the snow!
Oh so do I! I love to catch the snowflakes!😺
I’m a fan of big fluffy snow myself!
So are the humans – they love it!
It’s prettier than other snow, and I like the way it accumulates on things.
Me too – it makes everything look beautiful!
Yes! And as long as one doesn’t have to dig out from under it or deal with lost power because of the storm, it is turns everything into a wonderland!
Isn’t it the most amazing thing? Snow turns even the ugliest landscape into a thing of wonder!
Absolutely!
Where the human grew up there was never any snow – so the first time she saw snow in Oregon it was so beautiful – and she was just like the Creature!!
That it is!
They look bigger on here than in your other photos.
Interesting…! I am not sure why that would be.
Maybe because the chair is seen by me as a “real” chair ..
The chair is a children’s chair, which may be why you see things (the cats) as larger than they are.
That’s so cute! 😁
Dougy in particular gets excited about snow, though both he and Andy are interested in anything happening outside.
Dear heaven, first rain then snow! Will the pounding ne’er cease?? At least the boys perked up a tad. Today, Mom is taking me to pick up the young human again because Dad says I need to go out in the car more so I do not fear it. Then Mom is taking me to the Vet for a checkup since I’ve been so edgy lately. Woof! (She gave me the car-sick med around 10)
Dougy doesn’t ride well in the car, either. He starts whining the moment he realizes we are headed somewhere (in the carrier) and doesn’t stop until we get home again and I let him out. Andy is quiet about it.
I watch this last night. Loved seeing the amazed kitty! Thanks for sharing your babies with us.
My pleasure! Yeah, Dougy really likes snow!
Snow in May! I bet the boys enjoyed watching the flakes come down.
Yes, they both enjoy watching everything out the windows, and Dougy is especially excited when it snows. He’s my snow bunny, or would be if I let him be an outside cat.
Amazing. What gorgeous cats!
Thanks! They are brothers. Their other brother and sister aren’t a matched pair like my boys, so I feel fortunate to get these two.
They both have the flat faces!
They are the product of a Persian mother and a Birman father. Dougy got more of the Persian head than his brother, though Andy does have the flat (but not so broad) face, too.
Was the original Persian always like that though???
No. Their faces were flatter than regular cats’ faces, but the current Persian face is more extreme than that of the 19th Century. Same with the Siamese and other cats and dogs. I personally don’t approve of breeding for features that cause the animals health issues down the road, but Andy and Dougy (so far) haven’t shown any of the problems Persians are known for.
I thought Persians originally had prominent muzzles. But then they were bred with the broad-faced ones?
Apparently. I’m no expert on the subject. I have seen photos of 19th Century Persians Queen Victoria had, and they looked very different than Andy and Dougy.
I don’t know much either. Those broad faces are lovely!
They are sweet, alright!
That’s part of the breed isn’t it?
I think so…!
Is this a common occurrence in springtime? It doesn’t seem like it is according to Dougy’s reaction.
That is Dougy’s usual reaction to snow. He’s my snow bunny! It isn’t typical to snow here this late in the season, but (clearly!) it can happen.
