Reblogged this on Our Ancestors and commented:
Enjoy!
OK, now I am looking at it. Until a moment ago, I didn’t follow it, so most likely never saw it till, wedll, a moment ago! You are one of the more (“most”?) prolific bloggers I’ve come across, and I am constantly amazed how many topics you cover!
That’s the reason I have to find someone to blame for my addiction.
That blog was the third one. It was an English version of Nos ancêtres. I wanted to reach out for unsuspected Americans with French-Canadian roots. Quite a journey. It hasn’t stopped yet.
I used to work with a fellow by the name of Rene Levasseur. I saw that last name in one of your posts (the last name). I don’t know how common it is among French, but I do know his connection with the name goes back to Louisiana, which probably means (or could mean) a Quebec connection, don’t you suppose?
Ansyway, good luck isolating the source of your obsession! In the meantime, I’ll try to keep up with your prodigious output!
I don’t think you can keep up…
About cats…
One of mine has got diabetes.
I found that out yesterday.
I could relate to your cat stories on your blog.
About Levasseurs…
They come from Quebec that’s for sure.
I got some in a tree somewhere on Ancestry.
Either with your blogs or with my cats…
The plaster elephant erected in Paris was guarded by a fellow with that last name, I once read…!

I got five cats! and 20 or so blogs…
That would stagger all but the most tireless person! (Andy’s resting at my feet just now, insisting on a nose or head rub, my choice.)
Three sisters and two adopted ones…
Pawsome!
Yes, and how!
MOL 😸
I am really touched by your intention,. Long life to the France-USa links
The Marseillaise is beautifully sang . I heard it in this morning at the beginning of the celebration of July 14.
Thanks
In fruendhip

The one I posted is one of the most stirring ones I’ve ever heard. Of course, it is the Hector Berlioz arrangement, and he never did things in a little way!
Tres bien 🙂 That is all I remember from 4 years of French in high school. Well, I remember a couple more words, but not a lot.
I can pick my way through French, but not very well. I certainly can’t write or speak it. Fortunately, I found the greeting already written out and just copied it for my heading.
The most beautiful national anthem
How true, and this Hector Berlioz version performed here is the most majestic of all versions! He liked his bombast, mammoth choirs, and mega-orchestras. Of course, Placido Domingo singing it didn’t hurt this performance either! It’s a very stirring, emotional piece of music, even for a non-Frenchman!
Having almost all of my ancestors from France qualifies me as a honorary Frenchman…
Then the greetings apply to you, too! Of course, your roots in Canada could go back before the Revolution I imagine.
Yes… île de Ré
Charente-Maritime
You read my blog about genealogy of course…
I must have. I don’t recall specifically, however…. Would you post a link to the specific one, please? I may have missed it, but surely will recognize it if I’ve read it before.
nice
Thanks! I had a mostly positive experience each time I visited France, and there is no doubt it is a beautiful country, has excellent wines and food, and lots of cultural treasures worth a visit. If I were better with languages, I’d love to live there.+
