It seems the boys pick up on my intentions. For example, I’d love to toss several boxes scattered through the apartment, but boxes the boys ignore for weeks suddenly become favorite play zones the moment I get the urge. Andy and Dougy are uncanny this way.
Such is the case of a couple of boxes in the front room. They look ratty and I’d love to toss them. Dougy chose this morning, however, to renew his interest in them as play zones. Of course!
Dougy taunts me.
Yes, he decides he wants to play in this box.

Take my word for it: Anything that walks past this “window” will reap the tragic murder-claw of horrific death!
Next Dougy attacks whatever is under the flap (nothing…!), thoroughly ripping at the carpet.
No wonder the pet deposit is not refundable!

Dougy better pay attention if he wants to keep the boxes to himself!
Yes, the last photo is foreshadowing. Tomorrow, we’ll see if Andy messes with Dougy’s fun. I can pretty much predict he will!

My two are strange. No interest in cardboard boxes. The scratching board of the same material though is the favourite scratching thing for my tom … Kessy is just not into boxes.
You are lucky! They are a real eyesore but the boys get a lot of play value out of them. They never liked the cat tunnels, however or nice kitty forts. Only the ugliest of old cardboard is good enough for them! LOL! Count yourself lucky yours prefer nicer things!
the scratching devices look pretty rough meanwhile – the one FunTom uses sheds cardboard, the one Kessy uses, sheds the stings of sisal wrapped around the posts.
Both of my cats really like cat loungers made from the corrugated cardboard for scratching. Andy likes the rope scratcher on the cat tree, and Dougy is very naught, using furniture if I don’t stop him….!
FunTom uses ONE piece of furniture, my coffee table, but that is a table from IKEA, model Ingo, cost 29,90. And it endures the boy’s attack now since 2006. That is cheaper than the scretching device I bought for the two cats in 2006, which they love as a step up to the window sill. Only the new cat has ever scratched there. I was weatching a MysticBell video of Molly’s lovely family of pedigree Persian cats. They always look like pedigree cats, so handsome and well-behaved…then one of them was featured in a video standing on a cardboard scratching pad while scratching a chair! LOL! Good breeding doesn’t make any difference, it seems: Cats are cats!
Cats are mysterious creatures. That is what makes them fascinating to me.
Isn’t that the truth? It’s a rare day one or both don’t do something that amazes me. Very interesting animals to have around the house! 🙂

How is it that kitties know when we want to toss something so they start using it. We have too many boxes around right now.
However they do it, it assures the house never is picked up and company ready…! LOL! 🙁
Oh man the power of boxes. Any box that comes into my apt., no matter what shape or size is fair game. Love the last photo the best with Andy alert and his eyes glowing with interest in what his brother is up to.
How true! Andy is over there right now trying to modify the boxes to his specifications, and Dougy just came running by to put a stop to it! I suspect I’ll hear some “discussion” (with emphasis on “cuss”) any moment now.
