Neither Andy nor Dougy gets goofy on ‘nip. Dougy shows no reaction to it and Andy just mellows out.

Mol…fun times! We got in cycles…sometimes we just can’t get enough and other times you couldn’t bribe us to have any. I imagine most kitties are this way. Mom had a cat that got depressed on it and would go sit in the corner by herself whenever she had it. We love our fresh but same thing….its a sometimes thing. Perhaps we’ve seen too many neighbourhood cats flush from the nip….looks disgusting. MOL

Andy loves the fresh but Dougy finds it too potent. The dried is acceptable to both kitties.
Too potent! Is there such a thing as too potent. We only take the dry when the snow has covered up our patches of fresh.

Just judging by their reactions….! Andy says “no” and Dougy says “take it away”.
Also found that some cats who don’t like catnip do like valerian.
boys have experienced valerian. Others have mentioned it, too.
I bought some type of “Super Catnip” that came from the US. It was a bit more expensive but well worth it. I saw there is some catnip on ebay that is supposed to be superior. Some here:

The ‘nip I have is Colorado-grown. That’s the next state over from where I live. It is pretty pungent,m especially when I rub some between my thumb and fingers.
I didn’t know catnip worked on humans! lol
Supposedly it relaxes us. It is mint-related, and I suppose could be substituted in mint uses if a person likes that musky scent. I’ve never tried it myself.

That’s how it struck me, too, Ruth. Of course, both you and I have had to deal with beloved kitties being seriously ill.

Valerian, no. (You and others have mentioned it — I will give it a try!) I tried the silvervine and there were two things I didn’t like about it: cost and the boys became very aggressive toward each other under its influence.

I played with and hugged my kitties often today. The news about little Fuji reminded me how Andy and Dougy were sick little kittens when I first had them. So soon after the death of Louie the ginger cat, their health was a major worry for weeks.

And soon they’ll get the “munchies”. 😉
They know where the crunchies are if they get the munchies, and the water’s across the room from there. Strictly self-serve!
LOL, but where are the chips and the cheezies! 😀
They don’t like human food (fortunately!), unless it’s spelled T-U-N-A. They come running when they hear the can opener pop the lid. It’s amazing to me that they can distinguish a tuna can being opened over any other type can, but the do!
It’s true! Any other can they ignore the sound. Tuna and they counter is littered with meowing beasts. 🙂
I get a kick out of how fast two meatloaves can run when they hear that can lid pop!
