Photographing black cats in a dark place is a challenge. It is possible to get passable images with a little Photoshop manipulation or by closing your eyes and imagining. LOL!
Andy choses to “hide” behind the printer after he’s had his breakfast, chased his brother, perhaps played a little with a BirBug toy, but definitely taken a few minutes to take a kitty bath.
That, of course, makes taking his photo nearly impossible because the hidey hole he chose is in the dark: One does what one can!
Not the best photo possible. Well, “best possible”, if not the most desirable!
Ugh! Flash is nice when photographing a black cat…if you like that laser-eye look of light reflecting off the back of their eyes. This one was without flash but with tons of Photoshopping.
A little reflection off the eyes, a bit more contrast…. Hey! You settle for what you can get when you photograph black cats in the dark!
I assume that after this post was published Andy explained to you that there are no less-than-stellar pictures of him. 🙂
The human knows about photographic challenges – try taking pictures of a (darling, DEVASTATINGLY BEAUTIFUL)- gray tortie like me in Oregon – on days that are always gray and cloudy and the sun only makes brief guest appearances!
You manage to do great!😺
I’d be right at home – low light and challenging subject!
Oh yes – the human HATES the weird greenish tinge that our lighting gives my pictures –
Cats (and dogs) can be very difficult to photograph properly. That’s a fact! In my apartment, I have one lamp (on the stand Andy prefers to doze after his breakfast) where the light has an orange cast to it that defies Photoshop. Some of the photos I post in black and white are for that reason. Can’t get the orange out, so I just remove all color!
Good idea!
You know how it goes: You do what you have to do to get that one photo or so you really like or are willing to settle for. If I didn’t use many of my photos in this blog, I’d probably take fewer photos and settle for a lot less quality.
That’s true – but your boys still look gorgeous in black and white – I would disappear!!
Thanks! I think so, too. Yes, I believe you would!
The human says I’m so gorgeous in the sunlight – with my green eyes all lit up and sun shining on my fur and whiskers – but in Oregon it’s always rainy!
I bet you are! But I bet the human also knows how beautiful you are in the best light and sees you that way even in the gray light of Oregon! That’s how love is.
Mol! 😸 Oh yes she does! She is the “smitten kitten!” 😹
I definitely got that idea! Lucky kitty!
I think the first pic is great. Nice contrast.
A bit unfocused, thanks to how the camera chose to adjust on some point on the printer….
beautiful!
Considering what I started out with (nearly blacked-out photo….!), I’m a bit amazed I got anything. Thanks!
Andy comes over very clearly in black and white!
Sometimes black and white works better than color with these boys, for sure!
Black cats are a challenge to photograph. I feel bad but I rarely feature my 4 black cats on my blog for that reason.
I have little choice! It’s a struggle, eh?!
