Sometimes I forget that Andy and Dougy are pedigree kitties because they behave like regular moggies. Specifically, they are smoke Persians. Then, as their hair grows out and the characteristic smoke Persian characteristics start to show, I marvel that, well, they are really pretty kitties!
I saw Dougy in just the right light yesterday, and took this quick if poorly composed photo of a very beautiful Dougy before he went off to be a regular kitty:

In other “news”, I am not a touch typist. I oftentimes type a long passage and discover when I look up at the screen that the [Cap Lock] was on for a whole paragraph. After a blasphemous outburst or two, I unlock the [Cap Lock] key and redo the all caps section of whatever I was writing. Yesterday, I finally did something I should have done a long time ago: I removed that dang key from my keyboard! I never type long passages in all caps, so why bother having the key?
Dougy would like to know why you are not continually stunned by his stunning feline glory? 🙂
I just don’t know! I t must be because it blinds me….!
Yes, the CAPS LOCK key gets all of us from time to time.
Give the boys a good scritch behind the ears for me, Doug!
Yep! It’s been done! (He says to tell you, “Meow!”)
Congrats! Onward to 1200 more with your beautiful adventurous boys albeit a bit mischievous at times as lead actors.
That’s an unreal number! I hope I can continue this for years to come. Thanks, Anarette!
Anything is possible; the universe is infinite 🙂
Yep!
Congrats on 1200 posts! Great idea to remove the cap key, I do the same thing all the time.
I also removed the [Num Lock] key on another keyboard when I constantly fought accidentally hitting it. So far, I haven’t had that problem with this keyboard.
These Smoke Persians are beautiful cats. In spite of their acting like commoners. hehe
Shoko…another commoner
That they are! Of course, we cat people are equal opportunity cat lovers. I can tell you that all four of the cats I’ve had in my life – these two pedigree kitties and two shelter rescue moggies (both tabby cats) – are or were beautiful!
Those dang caps lock keys! And, on my laptop, the on/off switch is right above the ‘escape’ key. Yup, I never learn to be sure I’ve hit the correct one.
Oh no! That would be a disaster for me! You have my sympathy, Yvonne!
I’m such a flippin’ slow learner, Doug.
It took me years to decide to remove the offensive (and unnecessary) key from my keyboard, so I can’t find fault with your learning process!
Two inspirations in one post! Cap lock gets me when I’m trying to log on with passwords. Don’t know how it happens but your solutio sounds good.
Yeah, that’s where it ran into problems as well! Very frustrating, especially since I have complex passwords featuring numbers, symbols, upper- and lowercase words. Grrr! Anyway, removing that key already proved to be a time saver and good for my soul since I tend to become blasphemous when mad! LOL!
The thing I do not like about pedigree Persians is their nose limitation – that one is not a healthy characteristic of cats! Fur that needs human intervention to be manageable is another bugbear for me. Cats are very independent creatures and the idea they need a human to be healthy (even if it is just every few weeks when they go to the groomer) is somehow offputting for me.
But that not withstanding: Your boys are beautiful!
And they have fun in their life. That is what counts!
Another thing about those short muzzles and the breathing issues that that can cause is you can’t take them on airlines. I learned that from my friend Deborah, the person who took her three kitties to Paris by jet.
I tend to agree with you on Persians. Of course, much like humans and race, it isn’t something the kitties had any say on. Their father, as a matter of fact, was short-haired.
Did not know that! So you cannot transport an American Persian to Europe??
Yes, by cruise ship!
I tried the same thing on my iPad but I left a big hole in my screen
Good to be aware of. Did it go away when you replaced the key? (Presuming you did….)
How are Pam and the kitties?
It was a joke the keyboard on my iPad is “on screen”
Sorry. I’me exhausted just now from lack of sleep, the stress of the election, and concern about all of the medical procedures I have to prepare for this coming week. My funny bone is not working on full power today. I missed the critical point of it being an iPad, which even I realize is a device with a touch screen.
You get a lot of info in your posts. I’ve learned about your cats and now the kb
It’s accidental, though I hope any information people find here is helpful!
They are real beautiful kittens
Andy and Dougy say, “Meow!” I’m sure they thank you!
I can type fairly well without looking at the keyboard, but I’ve noticed that with a computer keyboard, I hit the the caps lock button a lot. I’m not sure why—maybe as I get older, I’m not as careful (lazy!), or the keyboard on a computer is more sensitive than my old manual Olivetti. (Anyone under 45 will be saying “Huh?”) I wouldn’t go to the extreme of removing the caps lock key, since I do use it to type acronyms: but maybe computer designers should place it somewhere else on the keyboard, like above the regular QWRTY keys?
Hey! I had a compact Olivetti Lettera 32, and loved that typewriter! It got damaged in shipment when I was sent from New Jersey to Germany when I was in the US Army. It was a huge disappointment. Then I bought a Hermes 3000 portable, and it was also quite the thing in 1970! Loved it, too. Of course, now that I’m used to computers and how easy it is to correct errors, use spell check, etc., I wouldn’t be able to type on a typewriter without a gallon of Liquid Paper.
I agree with you. Keys like that need to be placed where they are less likely to be hit accidentally. [Num Lock] is one of those keys I wish didn’t exist, though I once read where it actually served a purpose. Yeah, sure! LOL!
LOTS OF IRATE PEOPLE USE NOTHING EXCEPT CAPITALS. If you are working in Word, the double letter Aa under “mailings” shows you how to change large letters into small and vice versa.
I do write letters in Word, and that is something I hadn’t stumbled on yet. Thanks! Of course, now I have the [Cap Lock]key-less keyboard.
I hit that darn key by accident too often! BUT there are times I WRITE IN ALL CAPS!! (oops)
How can you forget how beautiful my buddies are?!! Just look at that face!!
I’m around it all the time, GP, so I see the litter box and the upturned wastepaper baskets, but sometimes fail to see just how pretty the kitty boys are! (As Dougy’s No. 1 fan, I’m pleased I posted this particular photo for you!) Yeah, Persian kiity faces are irresistible! It’s the eyes and that handsome mane framing the face.
You are so right!!
Congrats
=(^+^)= Thanks!
