Post 1202: “Want a head and ear rub, Dougy?”

Dougy loves to have his head rubbed. Don’t pay any attention to that old saw that cats don’t like their fur rubbed the wrong way! As far as Dougy’s concerned…purr… that’s precisely what feels good!

  1. A cat in seventh heaven!! Kali doesn’t care which way the fur is brushed or combed or petted. Shoko is different. She doesn’t like her fur rubbed the wrong way. I have done it and she quickly turns her head and puts her teeth on my knuckle, then she looks at me as much to say…*oh, it’s just you.* Then she let’s go.

    Two completely different reactions.

  2. What are catz for but to spoil rotten? Dougy looks like Chewbacca in bliss.

Aside, I think the old wives tail…hee hee hee…about rubbing a catz’ fur the wrong way stems more from the potential creation of static electricity than that they just don’t like it.

Long smooth strokes or short but not pervasive or hurtful strokes…oh hell just give ’em a kitty bitty and you can have your own way….. ~~dru~~

ps, do you ever wake up in the middle of the night and one of them have crept up on your chest and are just watching? I think they’re waiting for you to exhale so they can decide whether to eat you or not? Just a thought.

    • With regards your p.s.: Yes! This happens, and I know they’ve figured out I am edible because they get very interested in me when they see or smell a bloody cut on me.

As far as static electricity is concerned, I found I can stick my little finger out from the kitties when I pet them, and the static electricity doesn’t zap them.

As for spoiling the kitties. Um. Yeah! Quite a bit!
