Andy and Dougy get a spa day and haircut every other month. They are very good boys for their groomer, Athena! (So I’ve heard….)
Long-haired pets have a problem of poop getting caught in their “tail feathers” if they don’t have what’s called “hygienic trims” in that area. I started having them trimmed after months of stepping in little poop bombs dropped around the house, poop bombs that fell off their tail feathers.
I think they were a bit older than one when I started taking them to the groomers. This time of year, it can be problematic. Take a look at what I saw outside my front door this morning. (You know that’s Dougy sticking his nose out the door!)

I guess I can back my car up to the door. It will be later in the day before they scoop walks of clear the lane of snow. That’s my car on the left. It’s about fifty feet from the front door, and the carrier with two kitties is too balky and heavy to carry that far. Besides, I use a cane!
Best that you cancelled the appointment. It’s not much fun riding with the duo of homespun songs at the best of time. Never mind the snow and cold.

It was the best thing to do. I don’t know if the groomer made it in anyway. I talked with the owner when I called to cancel.
Long haired hair can on cats carry that same issues.

It’s only a couple or so blocks to the groomer’s shop, but the snow on the roads between here and there would have been a major problem yesterday because of drifting..
You were wise! Better to stay off the roads if it is not an emergency. “Hygienic trim” – now there’s a perfect descriptor! I was considering getting one for Lucio and Wynken, our two long-haired cats.
Highly recommended! The term “hygienic trim” is what their groomer calls it. Sounds nicer than “poopy butt trim” or whatever I used to call it.
The snow looks so beautiful but I know from experience what a pain it can be. Can someone else take the boys?
I cancelled the appointment, and it’s rescheduled for February 2nd. The cold and safety issues became more important than the appointment.

After 4 days of heavy rain and strong winds, we do.

The rains make trees tumble and fall….
We get broken branches from the weight of snow on branches, and the winds sometimes knock trees over, too! Worst of all is rain that freezes. It knocks out power, causes all sorts of havoc.
Yikes, the weather can be a powerful beast. We had power outages too. Luckily not the five days as we had with storm Hermine.
Our outages generally last minutes. There was one that lasted days when a major component in the electrical grid blew out. Fortunately, it was around July 4th so it wasn’t too bad.
If they would put the electricity underground it would not be a problem here in Florida. Short term strategies never work in the long run.
That would seem to be a solution most places. I don’t know what disadvantages there might be.
Practically nonexistent. Rocky regions and areas that often flood are obviously more expensive to bury the wire. But the longer the electricity companies wait, the more it will cost to go underground…
Typical four quarter management mentality. Henry Ford believed if you needed a machine and didn’t buy it, you paid for it anyway in poorer quality, greater waste, less customer satisfaction, more reworks and seconds. One can restate that to apply to failure to bury the electrical lines. (Dougy’s kneading my shoulder, purring away and shredding me through my shirt…. Kitty love is rough!)
I agree. Oh, kitty and puppy love…Benji is now getting in the habit to put his head on my shoulder when I am driving and he is on the backseat. It’s adorable and he can look ahead with a nice support but it hurts bony shoulders..
LOL! reminds me of Dougy showing me kitty love by kneading my shoulder! I try to make sure there is plenty of fabric protecting that shoulder when Dougy comes by because he really, really, really loves me, and he shows it with claws when he rhythmically claws away at my shoulder!

Reminds me of my cat Katja too. She found a way to do it with her nails pulled in. She was a very emphatic kitty.
Dougy starts out with his nails in, but the longer he kneads me, the more the nails start coming out!
It’s a good thing the boys are indoor cats, or they’d be pretty teed-off about you cutting off all their fur. It looks pretty cold in Nebraska.

Yep! Lucked out on the reschedule, too. I get my appointments for the coming year each November, and reschedules are difficult because I have two kitties to groom.
I got them “pooh” bombs and most of my catz are short haired. Some are just so damn lazy. ~~dru~~
