What a wonderful post card! Ms. Zulu (on the left) and Benji are well known to Andy and Dougy because the four did interviews with each other, and found that dogs are nice and so are cats! They became friends and are now old buddies. (Check out these interview links if you’ve not read them.) If only people came together the way these four did….
It did indeed put a smile on our mugs! Don’t the “woofies” look like they are enjoying a great time in the Pine Cone Forest? You know they are!

They were exposed to dogs as kittens, so seem unalarmed by their presence. Of course, Ms. Zulu and Benji are very well-behaved dogs, too!

when I was a toddler, I was bitten two different times by rhesus monkeys. Later, when I was a young adult, the younger brother of friend had a capuchin monkey that had no loveable qualities. I’ve just never had good experiences with monkeys.
I had no idea that they were legal to have as a house pet.
He had a pet store in Arizona. I don’t know about the legality of having them now or then (in the 1970s) for pets, but I can vouch for the impracticality of it. I personally think it is a bad it]=dea to have monkeys or other wild animals as pets.

They aren’t suitable pets – remember the chimp that tore off the woman’s face…! – but they are perfect for their natural environments. Same with other wild animals (big cats, etc.).

Yes, I absolutely agree with that. Around here, baby raccoons sometimes get turned into pets. Once they reach maturity, they are totally wild and unacceptable as ;pets, but by that time they are acclimated to humans. Not good!
No, not at all. And once they are acclimated to humans they can’t go back to the wild. That’s so sad.
People think wild babies are abandoned when they find them and mistakenly take them in, thereby condemning them to a life where they can’t survive in the wild.
We have a great local wildlife rescue center in our neighborhood. They educate people on those topics. Of course, not everybody listens…
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission serves a similar purpose here, as do private wildlife rescue organizations. Just like there, many people fail to get the message, especially with fledgling birds, baby raccoons, baby squirrels and fauns. If nothing else, these animals require specialized diets and care to survive, then thrive in the wild, if possible, and professionals need to be involved to increase the odds for reintroduction to the wild or determination if the animal is suitable for reintroduction. Unfortunately, baby animals are cute. Well meaning people want them to survive, yet inadvertently do more harm than good most times when they try to save wild babies. For that matter, most times the babies aren’t in peril or abandoned when people spot them. Robin fledglings, for example, spend a part of their development on the ground, learning how to forage.

Exactly! Same with spay and neuter, and getting your pets from shelters instead of pet stores. (Nebraska is a notorious place for puppy mills…!)
Puppy mills don’t get me started. Just awful practices. And dogs having to fight for their lives.

I hadn’t tried getting postcards from Zazzle, but your card reminded me that they can do that! I like the fact that both Ms. Zulu and Benji look so well-behaved in the pose, and they are! I may have a bit more of a problem getting my kitty boys to look regal as Persians!
I had wanted to get semi-gloss but had forgotten that you need to choose that option. I was too impatient to order it again… I believe that Benji was 39 weeks on the photo. This has been my screensaver ever since because I like how the light plays with their hair. Try treats to get the boys in line 🙂
I click my tongue and they give me a moment of attention. After that, it’s a matter of shutter speed on the smart phone camera. I miss lots of great shots because it is slower, of course, in low light, for example.
Low light is terrible. That’s why I prefer to take photos outside but you don’t have that luxury. Your boys are nice and safe inside.
If they’re by an open door, I get great light, but that’s the exception mostly.

Postcards, nowadays, are even more lovely than before, because emails are taking their place. But the feeling to have a postcard from friends in your hand beets all pc messages.
My cat Kosmo have made friends with these great dogs, and they have no problems to understand each others.
Great! I can’t encourage people enough to do just that! Anarette is a great person, a poet, and a great advocate of adopting shelter pets. I’m glad Kosmo and the doggies are best buddies now!
The internet can certainly connect all beings but we still love the almighty old-fashioned method. Kosmo let us know via email if you want one from us. Benji
I agree. There still is something enchanting about holding a personally composed, hand-written note from a friend. Email is faster, but postcards are more fun!
