Andy does have favorite toys, but he is less playful than Dougy. I think he left his mommy a bit too soon, and he was a sick little kitten at first. It takes him a bit of time to warm up to play, then he is a wild cat!
Yes, and has been since six years ago this month. He had to have blood pressure medicine for awhile, but that problem may have been more a matter of the upsetting (to Andy) process of having his blood pressure taken, you know, “white jacket syndrome” on;y in cats!

Oh, I am very much familiar with cats and vets interactions! I am glad Andy is healthy now.

Me, too. Nothing is sadder (to me) than an animal that has health issues and you have to guess what they are going through.

I’ve been through it, and it was very hard on us, both my husband and myself. The tragedy of it is that they can’t tell you until it’s too late.

Exactly. The late Louie the ginger cat died of a ruptured lymph gland hidden by his spinal column. I always use petting time to feel for lumps or injuries, and (thanks to the veterinarian for telling me this) there is no way I could have felt it. His last day, he was listless and didn’t eat, my first clue. I was heart broken when I found him the next morning, dead in his favorite place – the clothes dryer. I don’t know how he found the strength to climb there.

This is too sad! I don’t even want to tell the story of Shabbos the cat’s demise. Ten years later, it is still painful.

I understand, Dolly. I cried again when I watched that video. That was almost six and a half years ago. While it opened the door for me to get Andy and Dougy, two joyful bundles of cattitude and the inspiration for this blog, I fully expected to have Louie around till he was at least 20 or so. He was seven when he died, as best his veterinarian could estimate.

We know exactly how old Shabbos was because her mama cat, Aida, was brought to us in a box together with a litter of 7 day-old kittens, and this tiny fir ball raised her head and looked at me. I know they don’t see just yet, but I am telling you she looked straight into my heart! She was 8 when she expired from inoperable cancer.

Oh. That’s too sad. When you get them as kittens, they are like your children, and you have so many wonderful memories of them as they grow up.

Very true.

They are so cute! Do they get something extra a Christmas!
I haven’t made any special plans. They did get new water fountains, two big jars of Greenies treats, and the possibility of my opening tuna on Christmas if they are good kitties between now and then….
Doesn’t need to worry about you guys stealing his toy
No one wants to play with him when he plays that way! Yes, he keeps the toy buy loses out of n the fun of it.
Just so the toy doesn’t get lonely. I sleep with my Kickeroo & sometimes my mousie.
That’s a good idea! (That way you don’t feel alone either!)
He looks so peaceful, sleeping. He may have been dreaming about the toy, and here it was when he woke up!
Could be! It’s hard to surprise the kitty boys, but he was surprised that day.
That must be his favorite. 🙂
It has been, but there are signs he’s suffering toy fatigue with it now.
A bit possessive, aren’t we?
Yes and no: Andy doesn’t like it as much.
But he has his own favorite toys, doesn’t he?

Poor Andy! He is healthy now, though, isn’t he?
