Andy’s pestered me all morning to watch videos for kitties. Soooo… we watched this bird video. It held his attraction for a moment, as you can see from his viewing position. He rates it: 3 paws.
It’s 4:32:00 long, so you bet Andy got up and had some kitty treats and a rest stop several times during the play. I kept turning it off, but Andy came back and whined because it wasn’t still playing.
=(^+^)=
Andy really, really, really loves these string game videos. Very interactive, keeps his attention like nothing else. Andy rates it: 6 paws! He knows he has only four paws, but Dougy said he could use two of his for this high rating.
His tummy and kidneys lasted the whole video.
[Sorry for the poor exposure but this is what you get when you make a GIF of a black cat in a low lit place!]
=(^+^)=
We also watched a fun video (for me) of a squirrel family in a tree box. It lasts about 55 minutes, but Andy love, love, loved this video and wanted me to include it in this post.
He had to borrow all four of Dougy’s paws to give this video: 8 paws!
If you are a cat or a dog or if you have cats or dogs, watch or let them watch a bit of these videos and see if you agree with Andy’s review rating.
The squirrels are very cute! We have them around here, but don’t see too many in our area.
I used to have tons of them where I used to live in town, but this part of town is a bit thin in squirrels.
Sunny normally hates the squirrels that live in our backyard, so I didn’t think she would care for the squirrel video at all. To my surprise, she sat for at least 15 minutes staring at it, albeit with a bit of a scowl on her face. She was probably thinking how those accursed rodents could move so freely inside of that house!
LOL! I have to admit I found them lots of fun compared with other videos (the string one for example) that Andy gave high ratings. Good for Sunny, though, to give the video a try at least!
We’ll try and report.
Thanks! I’m pleased readers are trying them out on their pets!
Reporting: none of my kitty crew remotely interested in anything but the string. Little Pyshka is totally fascinated by the string, but mature guys turned their tails on it as well. Four paws out of 12 for the string, zero for the other two videos.
I’m not sure what the string attraction is for cats, but it suggests snakes might be a favorite prey in their wildcat stage. Or not. Or maybe it suggests a mouse tail. All I know is Andy in particular becomes very enthusiastic for the video and paws at the screen with sitting on the keyboard.
Pyshka was literally jumping at the screen! I should’ve taken a video.
Yep! I believe it! That was pretty much Andy’s reaction, too.
But Pyshka is a baby, and Andy is supposed to be “mature individual”! LOL
Actually, my Beba started acting mature only when Pyshka appeared, even though she is older than your kitty boys.
Andy holds back most of the time, then he loses it with that string video!
Can’t blame him! We all have our own emotional triggers, don’t we? String video is his.
His other release is grabbing my hand with four paws if I try to scratch that irresistible tummy!
It is irresistible, I agree!
Great reviews. Thank you for the link to the string video. I need to try it on my cats.
It was surprisingly compelling to Andy!
Amazing.
I’m amazed with your cats video watching! We had cats when I was I child but I don’t think they watch much television. Maybe because we only had one channel in black and white
We only had three channels in the 1950s, and they were B&W, too! When I say “three channels”, I note only one came in clearly. Andy will watch regular television if there are lots of activities – sports or race cars, for example – or animals, but he especially likes the videos specifically made for dogs and cats.
Videos are a familiar activity around here too
It is an odd thing to stop playing on my laptop so Andy (who lets me know when he’s ready) can watch videos. He had become very insistent, meowing if I don’t put a video on fast enough. Andy is a quiet kitty, so when he “meows”, you know he means it!
I’ve been in hibernation
The sleep is far from over
I’ve noticed. I hope you are doing better, though….
I have to leave for a while this morning, and I have your squirrel video ready to play for the girls. Of course, Jeff my have to turn it off if too much barking ensues!
LOL! It probably will bring on some enthusiastic interaction! I know Andy was pawing the screen and making kitty noises! I bet Xena in particular will become very excited since she is still a young doggy!
All I know is they didn’t bark. I was gone and hubby was in the downstairs.
Good doggies!
So lovely videos for cats, but not for our Kosmo. I showed him all of them, but he doesn’t care or understand.
Dougy doesn’t think much of them, either, though he might watch them for a few seconds.
He enjoy it a lot
Yes, he is an enthusiastic video watcher!
I say six paws for the bird song video.
Yeah, I agree Andy was a bit light on that one, too, but cats have their own minds about such things!
