Andy wasn’t happy to go into the carrier, and he protested loudly, a rare occurrence for this kitty boy. Dougy whines, but Andy usually is cool.
I sprayed Feliway inside the carrier before we had to leave. It seemed to help. Once Andy spent a little time inside the carrier, he was calm and his usual self!
At the veterinarian’s, he was his usual well-behaved self, though he did protest the cuff being placed on his foot. Then his blood pressure was taken, reading 140 on the first try, 134 on the second, and so on. Anything under 150 systolic, it seems, is in the acceptable range for kitties, and all of Andy’s readings were OK!
=(^+^)=
So, what else? Andy will have two doses of medicine a day. The Feliway spray will be used where helpful, but especially in the carrier when the kitty boys need some help being calm. Because blood pressure can presage other serious chronic issues, Andy will have a blood test done twice a year to assure none of the more serious conditions has set on. We seem to be back in control!
Of course, he was a good kitty, so he got Greenies for a treat when he got home!
So the Feliway worked? That is good news! Glad Andy is doing better!
Yes, it seems to have helped.
Glad to hear Andy’s feeling better!
Thanks! It’s a big relief for me, too.
Me and Mom are so-o very glad and relieved that Andy is doing better these days! I bet that was weird for Andy to have a “cuff” put on him. I’ve never had that done to me before. Purrs.
Me, too. Poor kitty. He was not feeling well for a time, and now acts and (as his veterinarian’s visit demonstrates) feels better. He’s been a very good kitty about taking his medicine, too, though I do have to catch him first.
Glad to hear old Dougy is getting better! Their health must keep you busy during the year!
It’s Andy, and thanks!
I am so happy to hear this dear Doug, Blessing him, Thanks and Love, nia
Me, too! I was concerned it might not help enough.
Yay Andy! The laid-back personality must be helping
I think so!
Aw bless him!
Thanks, Ritu!
What good news ! Back to tormenting his brother !
If only…! LOL!
He looks great!
He acts like he feels a lot better, too.
Happy news! So good to hear!
Thanks! He acts like he feels a lot better, too!
Very good news – thank you – so pleased to know that 🙂 amitiés
Thanks, France!
so glad that Andy is doing better and didn’t have to stay in the hospital.
Me, too! That’s pretty expensive business, though you do what you have to do to get them cared for.
This is wonderful news. I am glad Andy is doing better. I feel bad for you having to pill him twice a day though, that is going to be tough.
I has been acting much better, too! His medicine is in tablet form, but the clinic crushes it and mixes it in distilled water with a chicken flavoring. Andy isn’t thrilled with it, but it definitely beats trying to make him take a tablet twice a day! I hope he never has a prescription that can’t be put up this way!
Great news! With pets, figuring out what’s going on is like shooting in the dark. Sometimes they have a bad day and that’s it. Other times it’s something serious. Hugs!
That’s the scary part: sorting out the upset stomach from anything fatal….
Wonderful news. Glad the Feliway seemed to help. Medicine is no fun. It’s too bad we can’t explain to them how much better it is to take the medicine than suffer the illness that comes from not having it.
I hear you. I talk in the calmest voice I can when putting Andy through his little medicine ordeal, though I know he doesn’t understand or buy it if he does that the medicine is for his good. I’ve known about Feliway, but hadn’t tried it till I talked a bit with his veterinarian about the possibility that might help him out.
That’s such good news.
It definitely is, Yvonne! Thanks!
Well Done Andy and Doug!
so glad they’re doing better…
I’m glad to hear that he’s OK. It must have been very stressful for you.
It is. Knowing what’s bothering one’s pet is difficult to know or pick up on.
