This is the newest toy Andy love, love, loves: a string from my sweats that wore out and broke. No $30-five-D-battery- toys for this kitty boy! If you want to get Andy all wound up, bring out the string, any string. That’ll get his kitty on, and how!
=(^+^)=
Sorry for the photo quality but I did this with my point-and-shoot, a camera I haven’t used since I got my smart phone two years ago. I’ve forgotten where the edit feature is on the menu!
On top of focus and exposure issues, the dang thing has long delays between hitting the shutter and the shutter actually operating when you take photos in low light. That’s why you get a hint of Andy in these photos, but little of the full face. That pretty much explains, too, why I stopped using it and went almost exclusively to the smart phone camera.
Why, then, did I use it? Curiosity, I guess.
simple toys are always the best toys!
That’s what my kitty boys tell me. They agree with you!
What ?
What ?
Cats can turn anything into fun 🙂
How true, Ellen! I’ve purchased lots of cat toys over the years, but the toys they play with tend to be things like this string or a wadded up piece of paper.
Amazing how good technology seems until they make some type of innovation.
How true! I bet a whole blog could be made out of that.
New strings and shoe laces are always a hit, for a while anyway! If it needs batteries, we ain’t got it!
Yep! I think we all get to that point early on! My kitty boys agree with your assessment, too!
This is a well raised cat : he is content with little things . Excellent education.

I think it is a self-learned trait, one that I appreciate in my pedigreed kitties. That has been an eye opener for me: even fancy cats are, in the end, kitties, and kitties make their own fun. They will play with fancy (expensive) toys, but a simple piece of string is big entertainment, as is a pen, a wadded up piece of paper, a beat up box.
dood….gram paw dude loved hiz stringz two….him used ta chew
on em…de FSG all wayz put big knotz along de way N him chewed
on thoz ! 🙂 ♥♥
Andy thinks that is good kitty fun, too!
No plush kitty bed ever worked for any of my gang, but they take turns on an old, almost torn to shreds bath towel. When it has to be laundered, anxiety rises high!
I can imagine how they handled the washing days! My kitty boys reject the fancy pet beds, too. The more experienced I get as a cat servant, the more I realize their interests in toys and sleeping arrangements are less fancy than what I think they need. Of course, the things they like look like heck, but I’ve given up on that count, too. As long as I have cats, I’ll just enjoy them and look the other way when it comes to shredded ottomans and ugly boxes they jealously guard.
Having spent all kinds of money on toys, etc., we also learned from experience that cardboard boxes, old towels, and scratched furniture generate a lot more excitement.
Tell Andy I like his choice of toys. What kitty can resist a slinky snakie string?! Tee hee hee!
I think the answer’s “none”! He even likes a string video on You Tube. Not much too it, just a string “walking” across the screen, coming from random directions. Whew! He really, really, really like that video!
it’s amazing how much moneeh would have in our wallet if we would listen to our furkids when it comes toys ;O)
