There’s a large bug that Andy and Dougy have been trying to catch since yesterday. It is almost like it taunts them, then magically disappears as soon as they get close to catching it.
This morning, Dougy came really close to catching it, but when he swiped it with his paw, it fell behind the end table.
The vigil continues. “One of these days,” says Dougy, “one of these days…!”
for a new kitty toy, find a big fake fly & attach it to a long wire! I’ve also heard that they make very tiny drones. You could entertain both the boys & yourself!
I have a feeling the tiny drone would get destroyed in record time, though I have no doubt it would be a short-lived hit!
better stick with a artificial fly!
Ha! If the drone was cheap enough, I’d still like to see what happened. I bet they’d enjoy the challenge of a free-flying toy
Here ya go!
[I can’t find your comment wishing me a happy 4th – I accidentally hit the delete option, but it isn’t in the spam or trash files. Anyway – thanks!]
Well then lets make sure this time………I wish you & the kitty boys a really pleasant Independence Day celebration & of course I hope the sound from the fireworks doesn’t make the boys run for the hills!
The air conditioner helped blot out the racket, and the kitty boys made sure I was nearby all day. I think they did a good job surviving it!
excellent! I assume you were semi- close to the spot they set them off or your neighbours were letting them off?
Cool! I want one, of course. Looks like great fun!
of course you’d have to make sure it never came near the boys or it would be toast!
It seems to be a super beetle as far as surviving cat predation efforts…!
A hunter – these animals never lose their hunting instinct. No matter how much we think they resemble fluffy toys.
Caught him with an excellent shot, Sir.
He actually had the bug trapped under his paw a couple times, but the bug is a devious and successful escape artist. Oh well! The kitty boys are getting lots of hunting practice out of one big bug!
Good for them! Hehe!
It’s still around today, three days later. That’s some super bug or the kitty boys are letting it survive for further torture.
Hahaha! Cunning boys!
It’s looking more like a death by old age for the bug. I haven’t seen it lately, though, so maybe the kitty boys got it while I was away from home.
Are they still prowling in search, Doug? Hehe! Bet they got him.
I think the bug won. I haven’t seen any hunting behavior today. (I also haven’t seen any bug parts to suggest the hunt was a success!)
I think the lads will have hin when he returns, Doug. Hehe!
I’ve not see the bug in a day, so he/she/it either died of old age or the kitty boys finally sent hi/her/it to bug heaven!
Hahaha”
Bet it bugs you not knowing for sure? Hehe!
Talking of bugs, I have not seen so many of the tiny ironclad beetles lately?
Cheers, Doug.
You know it, Gerry. It’s like when you see a big spider running into a hiding space and you realize you have to put your hand in that spot to get the remote for the TV or something. Ick! I do encourage insecticide by kitty, and they hop to it!
Roger, Wilko, Sir. Eugh!
Bless your beauties! Haha!
I think the bug won.
Suck it up with a vacuum! 😳
I leave bug control (such as it is here – not too many bugs) to the kitty boys since they are indoor kitties and don’t get the stimulation outdoor kitties get.
We know just how you feel. Purrs, Snoops and Kommando Kitty
It’s great exercise for them, and I let them have all the bugs for entertainment purposes since they don’t get to play outside.
Good point.
Oh this face!
Talk about focused! LOL!
Good luck little ones! 😹
They haven’t managed to finish the big bug off, though they’ve caught it over and over. It could be they are playing with it, too. I know they will do that. Dougy caught it twice while I watched yesterday, but the bug got out from under his paw and flew to safety.
XD. How long can a bug survive in hiding
It may die first of old age at this rate, you know, two weeks old or some such!
Haha. Well hopefully he will either escape or be caught. Suffering from starvation would be cruel. 😮
Poor Dougy, trying his best to catch the bug…
He caught it twice while I was watching, and the bug got away twice, too! They may be playing with the bug more than trying to catch it to kill (and eat?) it.
Well, my kitty (Smoky) loves to go outside and catch grasshoppers and eat them. And after that, he gets diarrhea…
The kitty boys did that at kittens and caught an internal parasite that caused them to have diarrhea. I spent $1400 in veterinarian bills to deal with that problem in the first three and a half months I had them. That said, they (and Louie the ginger kitty I had before them) love, love, love grasshoppers , and they give kitties lots of entertainment by hopping to safety when the kitty makes an effort to catch them!
