Post 1815: when I touch food, anything, the kitty boys need to smell my fingers…

I know the rule: If I touch anything, especially food, the kitty boys expect me to let them smell my fingers. It’s The Rule

Dougy (above) is busy resting, but he appreciates the chance to smell buttered toast on my hands. (Good grief!)

  1. I read somewhere that cats can detect things that are spoiled long before a human would notice it. If I think the milk (or gravy) is getting iffy, I decant just a bit and let them have at it. They will turn up their noses and walk away if they think it’s off.

    • I believe it! That way she knows where you’ve been, what you came in contact with. My kitties do the same whenever I come home from somewhere, and, of course, they are very interested in smelling my fingers in case I ate something while gone!
