Post 2102: Andy’s favorite toy…

Andy comes out of the depths of darkness when he sees the latest addition to the kitty toys: the striped fabric thingy on a wand. (No idea what to call the darn thing – perhaps “The Whip”? Incidentally, he turned his head when photographed. He doesn’t have four eyes! LOL!)

He hops up on the cat-ravaged recliner to get a better look at this temptation. Dougy isn’t around, so all’s the better! Andy gets it all to himself!

Woo hoo! Andy gets his – RAWR! – kitty on.

He tries to take off with it. That’s his style. Take the toy where he can have his way with it in the comfort of some dark place. I make sure that doesn’t happen or we’d never know where Andrew took it!

More! More! More! Wee Andy plays like he never played before!

The play goes on and on. I am happy to see Andy having fun!

Where we started. Incidentally, the whip part of the old whip toy is still in use by the kitty boys for the kitty game they made up. All of this play with the new whip toy got Andy whipped – pun intended! – into such a play frenzy that several times during the day I heard his howl to try to get Dougy to come running to play “The Kitty Game”. Dougy finally stopped responding. I guess he was all played out.

  1. You could call that the Rainbow Snakey. It looks like a super fun toy to whap around. I don’t have one of those, but Mom made me a makeshift toy with some strips of plastic and taped them to an old wand. Tee hee hee.

  2. I’ll post a photo of Levon with the toy later today on your Facebook page if I can find a good one. Thanks for sharing!

  3. I have this exact same toy, and one of my boys, Levon, loves it! When I put it away, he will follow & cry piteously beneath the drawer. (But our 3rd cat Rufus tried to eat the fabric whip, so no choice.) Levon’s just like Andy. But his twin brother Oscar is absolutely terrified of it! I think it brings out an atavistic fear of snakes. Albeit rainbow Willy Wonka snakes…

    • LOL! I think you are right about the snake thing. A neighboir’s cat caught sight of a newly hatched garter snake moving through the tomato patch where I used to live. It was so tiny! It looked like a worm at first, and I barely saved it from becoming a kitty snack. Since they eat grasshopperes and slugs, I always encouraged thjem to use my garden. I created nooks in the rock garden where they could hide or hibernate, and was well paid in better luck growing vegetables and flowers.

  4. The new toy is really a good one for Andy! ..
I wanted to reply on your post 2101 , Doug , but WP tells me it cannot to be found ! Anyway thanks for your memories of your come back to the US.
    In friendship

    • I forgot to repost it when I took it back to draft to correct an error. Thanks for mentioning you hadn’t been able to find it, Michel, because I probably would have left it in draft indefinitely.
      otherwise, unaware of the problem!

I think the new toy is a winner for Andy! Andy tends to be shy about getting involved with toys, but this one brings out the tiger in him!
