Yes, that mess in the corner of the front room is so heavily used by both kitty boys I hesitate to trash it. On the other hand…!

He spent part of the time digging for vermin. I think Lavinia had something when she supposed the crinkly sound was part of the appeal of the nest. That was the business behind digging in the papers first, I think.
Has to make sure it doesn’t crinkle or bunch up while he’s sleeping. It might create a momentary discomfort.
There is some possibility he was digging for a rat or two in the process of digging in the papers. You know, kind of a nap time snack!
