15Jul20: my sad news…

I hadn’t seen Dougy yet this morning, so I looked for him. I found him on the sofa in the guest bedroom. He died sometime during the night, and rigor mortis had set in. There was a bit of blood on his nose, otherwise I have no idea what brought this about.

I’m still in shock, had a bit of a bawl. I will miss the little guy. He was my explorer, comedian, and furniture destroyer. I will miss him every day of the rest of my life now that he joins Freckles and Louie the ginger cat.

It’s just Andy and me now. We’ll get along, but we will miss the interaction between the two kitty boys.

I’m dropping Dougy off at the veterinarian’s for a post mortem and cremation next. It is a sad day. I acknowledge your comments now because I don’t feel I will be up to replies. With my health issues, I’d always assumed I would die first, that I wouldn’t have to face the deaths of these kitties. I always thought it would be Andy’s turn first since he has the heart issues.

The ottoman will go into the guest bedroom where I won’t have a constant reminder of Dougy’s naughty side. Thank you, Dougley for all the joy you brought into my life.

WordPress is acting up. I tried to respond to the comments, and weird things happened. I will try again because I want each and everyone of you to know your comments have helped me come out of shock and begin grieving.

  1. As Mom and I are just finally catching up with furiends such as yourselves, after many months of Mom letting me do very little blogging, we are in shock [sobbing tears] today to learn of this news of Dougy.

Mom says, “I can empathize with you as the white kitty, Tiberius, I once had went OTRB one evening. My husband found him laying on his side below the neighbor’s fence. Tiberius was only 5 at the time and had been playing hard with his toys just the day before, so we don’t know what took his life. Like Tiberius, Dougy was taken way before his time. I think of Tiberius every day of my life still, even though it’s been almost 10 years since his passing.”

Mr. Doug, just know that you were the best papa Dougy could’ve ever asked for. Hugs.

    • I understand. I think about various pets, like Laddie and Peanuts, two dogs from my childhood, the three Friskies, rabbits I had. (The Friskies were sequential…) I realized Louie the ginger kitty boy died nine years ago August 1st, yet he is always in my thoughts, he was such a perfect cat and much like Dougy in that he was a comedian. He also was huge – a physically big cat that also was heavy but not fat – and was notorious for coming up from behind and hopping on my lap. I learned early on that I had to have a pillow on my lap for safety! LOL! He thought he was a lap cap, and was really just that, just one that was unaware of his size.
