13Mar21: “The Scary Feather” is gone!

Andy used to play with this, but something happened that turned it into “The Scary Feather”.

If I pulled it out, Andy hightailed to the other room! Out of compassion for my kitty boy, I finally tossed “The Scary Feather” out. That done, I had a spare pole to attach the mousie toy to.

  1. 🙀 wow ❗️ Washe cat gets spooked if he breaks a turkey feather, whilst he leaves my dream catchers alone 😱 However we still got a hat box full of wild turkey feathers. Washe & Emmy Lou would share some with Andy 🐱 but can not send via gmail.com❗️ and if sent with US 🇺🇸 mail or any other carrier it is a federal violation shipping protected wild animal parts. Washe, Emmy, & I enjoy living together but do not want a 6’x8′ cell at Ft. Leavenworth 🥶

    • Kansas has som3e really lovely place3s, but Ft. Leavenworth definitely isn’t in the top ten! I have a box full of peacock feathers I bought off Amazon some time ago. I keep forgetting I have them, but when I bring one out, Andy and his late brother enjoyed playing with them. Strangely, Andy prefers to play with the quill end instead of the plume.

Yes, the Federal law of that are pretty stringent. An artist friend found some great horned owl feathers in the cemetery (where there is a nest used annually by a pair) and took them to her studio to use as models for a painting. She had a visit by a Game & Parks guy who confiscated them and gave her a lesson in the law. Fortunately, she didn’t fight the issue, but she was pretty frightened by the experience.

      • I am a former vice president of Nebraska Ornithologists’ Union, so am more familiar with things like the law on possession of bird feathers or actual birds, living or dead.

        • Good for You Doug 🙂 There is a serious reason for those regulations. ( I got the hunting certificate for that turkey) However if a bird drops me a feather instead of defecating on me I put it in one of my ‘dream catchers’ but would never barter a gift from Mother Nature 🦅 𝕀𝕥’𝕤 𝕟𝕠𝕥 𝕘𝕠𝕠𝕕 𝕥𝕠 𝕞𝕖𝕤𝕤 𝕨𝕚𝕥𝕙 𝕄𝕠𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕣 ℕ𝕒𝕥𝕦𝕣𝕖 ⚡️ ~Willy
