Not too appetizing, I guess, but Andy got pretty excited when I said “kitty food”.
Afterwards, Andy came back into the front room.
It was tasty and Andy licked his face to get the last of his supper.
=(^+^)=
Some friends worry I spend all my time at home with my cat. Yes, that’s largely true, yet I do get together with a regular group of old friends for lunch and talk. We talk about our cats, among other things. LOL! I had a nice meal with a tall red beer yesterday.
Red beer, which is nothing more than tomato juice and beer mixed.
Yesterday, it was a variation I’d never seen before, red beer with the addition of three olives. I skipped the olives and had mine straight. Of course, adding salt and or pepper are other variations. I’ve made it with V-8, a tomato + celery, beets, watercress, spinach, sweet potatoes, purple carrots and many more unique vegetables are blended in this product.
All told, tomato juice by itself and beer by itself still are best, but red beer is one of those things I feel like when I want to cut down on the amount of alcohol I’m having with lunch and because the predominant taste is the juice, not the beer.
I hope you are not sharing this red stuff with Mr Andy, Doug.
Never! He gets kitty-approved food and treats only and always has.
Good for him!
Gotta keep him as healthy as possible!
But of course!
I had never heard of red beer, either! Glad you were able to get out with friends. We are isolating due to health problems while we hear of more and more friends getting covid. So isolation for us is necessary, but certainly no fun for anyone.
So far COVID hasn’t been too bad here, though some mask wearing has returned.
Wow ! And I thought Shandy was a bit unusual ! MyMom used to concoct something called “switchel” which included vinegar and ice water, vinegar and ginger. When my Dad and the other hands were out in the fields haying it was a real thirst quencher.
That’s a new one for me!
Tomato juice and beer seems to be a Midwestern thing: I saw people in Minnesota and Wisconsin order it, usually in place of a Bloody Mary. (I never tried it, seemed a little odd, and yes, I prefer a good cold pilsner.) Covid is still a thing where I live—three people I know got it within the last two months, and while they’ve recovered now, they all reported it was very unpleasant. So I won’t be going out yet, unless the place is well ventilated or serving outdoors. I’m honestly glad you’ve been able to get out and visit with friends, however. It’s really been too long, and I yearn for a cold beer shared with friends. Drinking alone at home every night is depressing, even if your cat is sitting with you.
I rarely have alcohol in the house for that reason. I do enjoy having a little alcohol with friends. A blended lime margarita at a local Mexican restaurant is a rare treat, too, and it helps co ter the heaviness of the food.
I’m pleased you have your group. Don’t think I’d feel the same about red beer.
It’s a traditional thing here but give me a good pilsner any time.
I’ve never heard of mixing beer with tomato juice, an odd mix but I would try it.
It’s one of those things like chili and cinnamon rolls or cabbage buns that you find in this part of the country.
Andy’s little pink tongue licking his chops indicates the food was tasty to him! 🙂
I am glad you are getting out to see friends and have a meal together. I never heard of red beer, but it sounds good.
Me, too! I would tend to spend all my time at home otherwise and this is one event that I enjoy and usually make it to.
I have never heard of red beer until now. 🙂
It is something you can order in restaurants and bar here. I usually prefer a beer undiluted, but I rarely drink except with an occasional one at restaurants. In this instance, I already had a beer before everyone arrived, so the second beer, I felt, should be less alcoholic. The solution, other than having nothing to drink with the meal, was a good ol’ Nebraska traditional red beer!
