Andy waited outside my bedroom. Blizzardy outside, I decided to keep warm under the covers and went back to bed.
When I got up (finally!) I gave Andy the anticipated and much welcomed “scritch”!
“Wanna see how much snow we got while I coccooned in my bed, Andrew?” Deep enough to drift a little in front of my door.
Not much out this way. Whew!
Andy licked snow that got inside the door.
Yep! The yard frog’s still smiling across the lane!
=(^+^)=
This post was put together on 13 December, roughly midday. Just when and if the big bad blizzard will strike where I live is a big question. Here’s what the official word is on that at midday yesterday:

Looking cute.
Andy thanks you!
Good morning sir.
Have a nice day.
Good morning to you, too!
Just catching up here Doug. Hope the storm does not get any worse than this for you.
We got 12 inches total here.
We have snow in the forecast here for Monday and Tuesday. Today was 22 degrees at dawn and clear. It’s only up to 30 now.
Stay safe!
Merry early Christmas from
Crystal And Daisy Mae
Merry Christmas to you, too! Thanks!
That sounds like a bad storm. Hope they are wrong.
It was sufficient to close roads, schools, many businesses, even certain functions of the local hospital. The local landfill was closed and some roads in town, though the road crews did a fast job of opening and reopening roads.
Floof alert!!
Andy’s scheduled for a defloofing on the 19th. I’m going to have to turn the heat up for the little darling!
Oh nooo! Why are you de-floofing in winter?
I used a “surgical shirt” (kitty onesie) when one of my cats had to be shaved. I tried a flannel dog shirt but the cat could get it off.
He has a regular schedule set up each year and this happens to be his final one for this year. He has lots of mat, thanks to his refusal to be combed.
I tried to brush PCB last night and she tried to take my arm off.
The time zone changes are crazy! Each time I travel to Michigan, I lose three hours which seems ridiculous. I’m glad that you haven’t got too much snow yet based on what little I can see outside your door. Stay warm, guys!
Yeah, travelling through time zones is tedious! I am close enough to the Central/Mountain Time Zone that I rarely cross out of Mountain since most places I travel to are in MTZ. Going east, I hit the change at North Platte. The people I feel sorry for are those living at the change who are constantly going back and forth between one or the other!
Can we do away with the zones?
Or Daylight Savings Time at least?
Yes that too!
A good day to curl up with a book, a cup your favorite hot beverage, and a cat to keep your lap warm.
Exactly! And so I did, though Andy wasn’t too cooperative.
You have as much snow as we here in Finland. Stay in inside with Andy for some days.
Yes, indeed!
Wow, that looks intense. Best for you and Andy to stay home, safe and warm!
Wait till tomorrow’s post…
We are getting the storm tomorrow (Thursday). Forecasters are all over the place because another storm is coming up the coast with rain. They will mix. We will get either snow, a snowy mix, or rain. Not sure what yet. It will be our first storm for the winter.
Rain with snow later is the worst combination!
Wowsers, look how snowy it is at your place!
Deeper now. The real storm followed that afternoon.
Mr Andy is his adorable self.
Stay warm and stay safe, Doug.
I won’t need to go out before Thursday morning, then I won’t need to go out again till Saturday.
I don’t like snow, because it always comes when it is cold, but it is beautiful.
Pretty it is, but I don’t care for the stuff either.
I hope it doesn’t get any worse
It already has…!
Ah
WOW! Yes, it is the best to be in bed or to watch outside… Stay in warm and safe dear Doug, Thank you, Love, nia
I managed to stay inside and warm. I did have to turn the heat up because the temperature was dropping inside.
the bed is the best place to wath the snow… we hope there is no trouble nor damage when ole man winter acts up
Thanks! So far there was a power outage but not much else. The roads are largely unpassable for the region, though people till try to drive them anyway. That endangers both them and the first responders who have to pull these people out of ditches or collisions with stopped vehicles.
One of the great things about retirement is that you don’t have to go out to work on those brutal days when you know driving is going to be awful. Take care, Doug and Andy!
Exactly! Once, it took me over an hour in a blizzard to get home from work. Five minutes was the usual commute time! People who came in for the next shift – work wasn’t called off! – ended up having to spend the next night and day at the plant. The food machines were empty by the end of it.
There was one record blizzard in Minnesota where it took me three hours to get home from work. Later I saw comments online from people who said they were in agony over their need to use the bathroom while creeping along in traffic. I remember thinking at the time, “I really could use a cup of coffee while sitting here!” But in retrospect I am glad I didn’t have any before hitting the road that evening. I probably would have just grabbed a newspaper or old towel to protect the car seat, and let nature take its course!
One does what one has to do! I keep blizzard supplies in my car though my longest commute now makes being trapped in a blizzard very unlikely.
Wow! We never get snow like that over here. It may cause disruption but it’s always very gentlemanly.

It can get pretty grim here!
I can get pretty grim here on the Northern Plains of the USA!
