07Apr24: more than treats…

Looks like Andy wants to snack on kitty treats.

There they are, Andy!

I guessed wrong – Andy wanted to nap. Those catnip-flavored Greenies he had a short time ago must have kicked in!

=(^+^)=

I had my little nap today, too! Dialysis induces a need to nap. You can be doing something, then extreme fatigue hits without warning. Some days, the best I can do is put a pillow under my head and take a sitting nap in the chair. I try not to do that. Making it to my bedroom is much more suitable and comfortable. Yes, I had my nap today in my bed and I woke five hours later much refreshed.

06Apr24: Andy can’t believe it.

“You don’t have a post ready, Doug?!”

=(^+^)=

I feel like a smarty pants when I get a little ahead making posts, which I was this week, and then the posts all publish. So it goes!

=(^+^)=

Subway has a foot-long/ 30,5cm cookie, pretzel, and churro promotion now. Five times, I’ve tried to get the $5 foot-long chocolate chip cookie only to find they are or of them or the distributor is.

Seriously, I don’t need a cookie but the novelty and the incessant television promotion of the three foot-long treats has created this obsessive desire to try the dang cookie anyway. The pretzel and churro, though less pricey, don’t intrigue me. But that cookie…!

I’m sure to be disappointed if I ever stumble on the day the cookie is available. The best chocolate chip cookie is one you bake yourself and $5 will make more than a foot of homemade cookies. Another way to think of it I didn’t spend $25 on cookies!

05Apr24: the Greenies crisis, continued…

He just sits there, perplexed and upset that his regular Greenies aren’t there.

Sad kitty! Poor Andy!

Once again, Andy looks down at the pathetic offering of little-sized Greenies.

A side issue: he scratches an itch.

“Seriously, Doug. Put out the regular Greenies!”

Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Andy finally gives in and eats the little Greenies!

04Apr24: Andy settles on this…

As soon as I take his photo, Andy decides to vacate the window. No birds this time of day anyway.

I think he is about to hop onto the cat tree for kitty massage time, but that isn’t his plan.

Andy doesn’t know what he wants to do! The front door view isn’t of sufficient interest for now.

He hops onto the table. That’s usually a good time!

There’s ‘nip up here and other kitty-interesting stuff! Andy explores the possibilities!

I think someone’s kitty is frustrated.

He’s looking for his favorite Greenies, not these little-sized ones.

Poor kitty!

Argh! Things look desperate for Andy!

He comes over to get sympathy, though he’d prefer the larger-sized Greenies now.

=(^+^)=

Poor Andy! He doesn’t like this smaller Greenies format. I suspect they are harder for him to eat. It’s all we have on hand now, but I’ve ordered the larger size to handle the emergency! I ordered it in catnip flavor. I hope Andy likes that flavor for a change from chicken, but he is a cat.

03Apr24: Andy tries to be interested but…

Andy tries to be interested…

…but it’s a big mystery to him.

He takes a quick “eye rest.”

Well, maybe more than a quick one. Andy is in deep sleep!

02Apr24: a brief critter check…

Andy’s on a critter check!

“Don’t stop me! This is important kitty business!”

Rushing to the observation post….

No birdies here!

“Hey! I knew I could see them from here, but I always check down there in case some are too low to be seen up here.”

(Yeah, sure, Andy!)

OK. There are birdies out there. Now it is time to do his mousie check in the kitchen cabinets because this may be the time Andy finally finds some skittering about in the cabinets!

(Hope springs eternal, eh?)

01Apr24: Where’s the kitty these days?

A quick look behind the bed. No Andy.

Andy likes this window but he isn’t there, either.

This other guest bedroom window is cat-friendly, too. Andy may still remember this as a Dougy hangout! (The sofa shows Dougy’s been there, shredding the corner, which makes it a memorial to the wee rascal!)

Not on the cat tree that Andy and Dougy really, really, really loved to play on when they were kittens…!

I’d expect Andy to use the kitty lounger at least! Or that two-hole hidey hole thingy in the upper left. Dougy used to hide there on veterinarian visit day!

The far side of the bed is a place Andy hides sometimes. I sat down on the end of the bed to think where else to check. There, in darkness the photo doesn’t reproduce (and because I edited the photo to lighten it up) is this black lump

Yes, the black lump is Andy, as you may already know if you looked closely at the top photo.

=(^+^)=

Here’s the top photo reposted to show you what the edited version looks like. Of course, it’s easy to see Andy when the photo’s lightened up.

With so many good spots for a kitty to sleep in the guest bedroom, including on the bed, there he is on the floor. Of course, there’s also that cubbyhole kitty cave in the new television stand that he hasn’t used for a few days in favor of the guest bedroom. I suppose the guest bedroom is favored because I rarely go in there!

=(^+^)=

The “dark lump” stopped by while I was doing this post to remind me kitties have meal times if I didn’t know.

31Mar24: in which I interrupt important kitty business….

Andy just started to tend to his precious when I touched his raised foot.

Fight or flight? Andy had a new decision to make!

Flight? Heck no!

He went back to his important kitty business of tending to his precious!

=(^+^)=

I should know after years of living with my good kitty Andrew that I should leave him to his important kitty business, whatever it might be at the time. I don’t, though. Bad me!

30Mar24: Urgent!

Andy stopped by and got my attention off the laptop by scratching my knee. It must be urgent kitty business because he usually just pats that knee to get my attention.

“What’s wrong, Andy? Timmy’s fallen into the well again?”

=(^+^)=

Silly me! The important kitty business was Andy wanted to do his “Mousies in the Cabinet” check! Timmy’s safe, it seems, having spent endless times and hours soaking in the well!

=(^+^)=

Andy continued to be inscrutable, yet he came alive and focused the moment he heard me pop the can of albacore with the can opener! Yes, once he got some tuna water from the can, he settled down. Did he connect with me by ESP to learn tuna was in my plans for lunch? Who knows! Who knows?

=(^+^)=

Andy’s cup runneth over! Today his Royal Canin Persian Adult Dry Cat Food auto-shipment arrives. (I don’t get compensated for the mention, but Andy really, really, really digs in when I put some in his dish.)

29Mar24: Andy’s Greenies tutorial…

Give Doug the Human my “Gimme Greenies! Now!” look. The eye gunk looks like a “kitten tear“, a nice extra touch!

Look at the result, which always is too few Greenies, then pout.

Sniff the meager offering of Greenies, letting Doug the Human think he did his duty. Don’t eat any Greenies, though, because…

…this is when you give him your “You forgot to put out the right amount of Greenies!” look. Pout some more because the look sometimes fails to get the right result but a pout on top of it usually gets the right result!

=(^+^)=

I must have been tired because I conked out in my chair while watching my favorite nighttime political analysis program and woke up six hours later. Unfortunately, “six hours later” included the time I meant to put this post together for today That’s the way it sometimes goes for old guys!
