Post 549: the hunting blind

I get what I get, not what I plan when I decide to do a photo story about the boys. I thought — and still think — it’d be cute to get photos of Andy in his new box playing. We played earlier, and he gave a wonderful performance you would have enjoyed…if I got it saved on my camera!

Of course, once I got my camera, the mood changed, Andy stopped being cute, and Dougy showed up to take over. He hadn’t played out for the morning yet, and here was a wonderful opportunity.

Andy's in the picture...if you look closely!

Andy’s in the picture…if you look closely! (Hint: those are his paws under the box flap, about halfway in….)

I try to tyease Andy out for a photo shoot showing how Andy not only took over the new box, he made it into the perfect hunting blind.

Too much temptation for Dougy! He came at a full gallop, and Andy retreated from the game!

I wrap the toy...Aw! Dougy just wants to play, and Andy can play if he wants to!

I wrap the toy…Aw! Dougy just wants to play, butΒ Andy can play if he wants to.

Maybe I won't play if Dougy's going to be a toy hog.

What the hey!? Dougy still wants to play, so I toss the wand toy bug his way.

I give Andy another chance to join the play, but Dougy's just too close and ready to go as far as Andy's concerned.

Woohoo!

Woo hoo! Andy just got up and ran away. Take my word for it.

This game is going nowhere fast!

This game is going nowhere fast. What started out to be fun lost its appeal as soon as Andy left. Poor Dougy! No one will play with him.

Don’t feel bad for Dougy. After IΒ put the camera away, we went back to playing with the wand toy. Andy joined in, but played from the seat of my computer chair, a favorite of both boys because they like to catch the toy under and over the armrest!

=(^+^)=

Dougy decided to check out my progress (i.e. make sure I didn’t libel him). Apparently I passed his stringent test because he didn’t hit [Ctrl] [Alt] [Delete].

Post 455: Way to go!

I can’t think of a better way to show respect for our American veterans with PTSD than to celebrate the 4th of July for eight days from 9 AM till 10 PM, then July 3rd and 4th from 9 AM till midnight.

Must be great to have a ten-day-long reminder of the combat “fun” you had fighting in America’s wars. Thanks for your service.

Ten gruelling days: That’s how long my hometown allows fireworks to be shot off in celebration of the July 4th holiday.

I had a comment from a reader who wanted to follow this blog but couldn’t find the place to do it. These two places plus one on the toolbar at the very top of the blog post are where you can subscribe. (There’s a circle with a checkmark in it, next to the word “Follow” on the toolbar.)

I’m so worn out from the blanking ten days of fireworks, especially the ones to midnight the past two nights, I’m having difficulties focusing at the moment. Here’s a couple kitty photos my Seattle sister took of my boys when she was here recently on a family visit:

Post 356: Andy’s and Dougy’s teddy bear cuts revealed!

Andy and Dougy succumbed to hunger and revealed themselves. I took some photos to show you their groomer’s art.

Andy: What a pretty boy!

Andy: What a pretty boy!

I started to take another photo of Andy, and Dougy walked into the scene. Oops! Flashed! Dougy hates flash cameras, and this little accident made the photo after this one very difficult to take.

Now, this is more like it.

Dougy: Isn't he pretty, too? The teddy bear look is much kinder to the cat thaqn a lion cut, which makes the cat look cartoonish.

...from the Persian Rescue of Johannesburg blogsite, here's a Persian with a lion cut. This particular cat was a rescue and was severely matted.

Cat grass for the boys is something I need to cultivate more regularly. After the stuff I put them through this week – a spa day for cats… – they deserve something extra and special.

Also, the cat grass is coming up., Andy is especially appreciative of grass.
