Post 837: an unwelcome observer…

Dougy has one thing to say to SpongeBob…:

“Stop mocking me…!”

==== 🙁 ====

There is some confusion about this photo above. Dougy’s ears are circled in red and claw tips that look like little eyes are circled in yellow. Look closely and you can see it’s his front legs hanging over the edge in the photo, left paw over his right paw, which is the one that shows a little reflection of light off his claw tips.

Sorry for the confusion.

Post 697: In which Andy is mentioned in a comment, and that leads to his capture!

Susan P of the always charming blog  (link at end of post…!) commented in response to Post 695, ” Cats are definitely wily. And fast.”

I responded back, “And how! [Andy’s on the top of the recliner, just behind me and within grabbing distance….! He hasn’t been medicated yet this morning. I’m thinking a quick grab and I have the little fart. He’s receiving my brain waves over his whisker receivers, and processing the plan as I type…! Will I catch him and get medicine down his throat…or will he get away and hide the rest of the day, knowing I’m on the prowl? Stay tuned!]”

 Andy tried to wiggle free...!

Andy tried to wiggle free…

...but if I have to be iun the dang photo, he has no choice but to pose nicely. Well, as nicely as a hostage can!

…but if I have to be in the dang photo, he has no choice but to pose nicely. Well, as nicely as a hostage can! We were not happy!

Captured, photographed in his shame, dosed, massaged and reassured, Andy was released to spend the rest of the day munching his treats for being a good boy or to do whatever he wishes!

I dedicate today’s blog to Susan. If she hadn’t brought up the issue of wiliness in cats, I wouldn’t have felt challenged to capture Andy at that moment, and this would have been a totally different post, most likely one damning a Congress that held 315,000,000 Americans hostage over funding the Department of Homeland Security, tens of millions more than the “Islamist Terrorists of ISIS” imperil. Yeah, not as fun as a kitty post.

Post 648: Andy and Dougy play a game of their invention…

Andy slipped into the box, dragging the multi-color ribbon wand toy behind him. This toy, a favorite of the boys, is part of their self-play. I can’t get them to play with it, but they have their own game, something like “keep away” they devised using the toy.

Andy guards the toy. He doesn't want Dougy to get it!

Silly kitty! You are all the way inside the box, but the toy is mostly outside! Dougy surely will notice.

Dougy can't budge Andy from the front, so he waits by the hole on the side. Andy will try to scare him away, but Dougy will prevail!

Dougy scared Andy out of the box, so he checked it out. Nothing there. Dougy leaves the box...and still forgets about the toy!

Dougy shoos Andy out of the box, yet he still must verify it is empty. Yep! No kitty there! Dougy leaves the box…and the toy! Game’s over. Hunh?! I guess it makes sense to the kitties….

The toy will show up somewhere else before the morning’s over. In fact, it will “wander” all over the house. I rarely see a cat attached to it, but the cats move it. Only they know the rules and strategies of their homespun game!

Post 646: snug Dougy

Some days — icey cold days! — the best plan is to snug up to the closest warm body and take a snooze. Dougy chose me for his snuggles. I appreciate the arm warmer!d sleep

Post 645: The fugitive Andy makes an appearance…finally!

Andy just popped up out of nowhere after being in hiding all day.

Lick-lick-lick! He smoothed his hair in a most becoming way and waited for me to take his photo, which I add to the one of Dougy I posted earlier today.

Andy won the game today. It's too late for his medicine. Coincidentally, it's "feed the kitties" time.

He moved to action over to the blue carrier, which is closer to the "feed the kitty" spot. Andy, you little scoundrel! I'll feed you anyway!

Post 644: Dougy’s new ‘do

With just a hint of “horns”, Dougy posed nicely for this portrait.

 Dougy as he appears now.

What? I actually got one of Dougy looking straight into the camera??! (How about that tail?)

Most of them looked more like this than the top photo.

Most of them looked more like this than the middle photo.

Next: get a decent photo of Dougy in a nice background! Of course, there’s Andy’s photo to take, too, but he’s hiding since he hasn’t had his medicine yet today.

Post 602: Dougy demands a good scritching.

Dougy is a sweet little guy, but, as a cat, he has high expectations of his human: When Dougy wants a good scritching, his human better comply! NOW!

I felt you deserved a longer than usual video today since I skipped yesterday’s post. Hope you enjoyed a kittycat-laced musical interlude!

Post 597: Andy’s priorities…

If Dougy likes to stop by to be social, Andy usually stops by for another purpose. I never know until he settles down which it will be: social or kitty business.

Great! Looks like someone's going to come for a visit!

Great! Looks like someone’s going to come for a visit!

Andy made up his mind, though…

Looks like he might be more interested in the birds...

Looks like he might be more interested in the birds…

He still might stop for a little visit, though. Maybe…! What’s it gonna be, Andy? The guy who loves and feeds you…or..”The Birds”?!

I should have guessed! Birds trump people every day!

I should have guessed! Birds trump people every day!

That’s it, folks. Andy has his priorities.

Post 589: Andy yields to temptation.

I noticed Andy was very interested the other day in a potato bag that was hanging part way over the counter. Though neither Andy nor Dougy hops up on the counters — just about the only naughty thing they don’t do! — they do notice things. In the video, Andy satisfies his curiosity about the bag:

I’ve removed the temptation so Andy doesn’t accidentally chew on the bag and swallow plastic. (Please excuse the dirty floor, too. I hadn’t vacuumed yet, and, until I watched the video, I hadn’t noticed how really, really dirty it is!)

Post 584: Just watching…that’s all!

Andy is a quiet little guy. Where Dougy would make pathetic mewing sounds to try to get me to play, Andy just comes up from behind, taps me on the arm, then just sits there.

“What’s up, boy?! What do you want, Andy? Food? Play? To look out the front door? What!? What!? What!?”

Just there...! Why?

Just there…! Why?

Yes, he’ll just sit there. Watching, waiting, quietly expecting something from me, but what? “Speak up, Andy! Lead me to what you want!…!”

Maybe he just admires me. Naw! He wants something. Something...!

Maybe he just admires me. Naw! He wants something. Something…!

Some days, it just creeps me out! Today, though, I figured out he wanted to play with the wand toy, so we had a nice play session until Dougy galumped onto the scene and took over. Dougy is that way: You never wonder for long what he’s about.
