Protein is one thing I need to increase in my diet, as are calories of the right kind. Having little snacks throughout the day when I feel peckish (?) is recommended by Kirsten, our dietician. That one is problematic since my appetite is poor. I do that those “fun size” peanut butter cups and another candy bar. Kirsten felt those would work, as would some supplementary drinks and energy bars more traditionally used to stimulate a more healthy response.

I had an odd yet tasty lunch while I was getting the transfusion: taco salad on top of rice instead of in a taco shell. It was very good anyway! Dessert was a blondie, also excellent. Best of all, the iced tea was unsweetened and tasted brewed, not made from instant tea..
Keep working on those good calories, Doug! I am glad you are getting good care.
It is exhausting but helps….
Doug
Such a battle. Keep it up
On is unaware of how much of on while caught in ghe process. It feels like a “…and the step is….” The whole process isn’t in fo us yet
Doug
Sorry you needed a transfusion. Glad you had a good lunch though.
It came as a surprise!
Doug
That is a long day. That sounds like a good lunch. Glad they were taking care of you.
A very exhausting one, too!
Doug
That is a lot to go through. I admire your positive attitude.
Thanks! Positivity is a big part part of survival.

Lunchables (prepackaged kits for kids) may be helpful for you too. Easy to grab and usually there is cheese or some protein.
There are many ways to get to Damascus! The Lunchables would be a good in-between snack.

Doug yes, sending loving prayers and best wishes for you to feel well… to recuperate and heal… Always so good to know that helpful and caring people like McKenzie are with you thru the process. Am sure Andy was so happy to see you. (Leah seeing your message on your husband’s BP.. trusting that worked out)… All the best to our friends here on Andy’s blog… kitty kat hugs to you, dear Andy…
I appreciate the support and understanding I have here!
Doug
Wish you a quick recovery.
I think it will be a long process, but appreciate your optimism!
Doug
Yikes a day of tests and treatments … We’re having a time of it with my husband’s BP tonight … We send sympathetic purrs to you and to Andy …
I take a drug for my chronic highly variable BP. It’s so low sometimes it amazes me I’m conscious when I see the numbers on my pulse oximeter! I hope your husband isn’t going into the low range where your vision is in b&w and like snow on a bad reception day on 1950s TV! Of course, it isn’t any more pleasant on the ultra high end of BP.
Doug
He had some higher numbers … He does have med for that … Maybe from a little salt … Better today and tonight … Med does need balancing so it’s not too low. Thanks for good thoughts everyone!
