18Mar26: getting used to it…

What’s Andy up to?
Checking out my niece Shannon’s temporary work station!
The litter box is in a new place. Andy approves. (Good!)
Kathy and Shannon reorganized the living room with the objective of making it friendlier for me to get around it on a walker or wheelchair! I approve.
Andy is especially happy in this corner. The backdoor is cleared up open, with the little red chair, again, for him to watch the wildlife in the backyard; the sun on the floor is great; the litter box is close by; his 10th birthday cat tree lets him get high to enjoy another perspective of the backyard. Did I mention water and food close by?
Aw, yes! Sunny spot, black cat!
He still has changes to explore, yet I think he is enjoying what he finds. I know I do. My sister Kathy and niece Shannon are minimalist when it comes to apartments.

They cleaned and declutered this part of mine in a day and a half! I never can thank them enough. It would’ve taken me forever, if ever, to get the same results.
I go by this reminder many times a day.
Andy’s new territory.
Birdies tweet, then his “horns” activate.

All of the kitties that passed – top to bottom: Freckles; Louie; Dougy. Some had been missing after they fell behind a CD storage cabinet. They reappeared after the cabinet was moved into a new position. Shannon suggested this arrangement by the large photos of the two kitty boys, Andy and Dougy, in boxes.

    • I eas, worried about Andy – he’s accepted all changes, bless his wee heart! I have, too. It has already made my maneuvers inside significantly easier and safer. Kathy and Shannon did a super job!

    • Goid! Though the thrust of this blog is split a bit now, my intent is to do one that agares my little kitty guy with people like you!

  1. Doug, how great all looks!! Kathy and Shannon are true angels in human form… they love you and Andy and take the best care of both of you… what a great blessing to have such a loving family. I’m with you Doug, it would have taken me forever, if at all!! to accomplish what they did. My method is to pull all out of closets, drawers, rooms.. then be so exhausted i can’t do anything. Not a successful method! Yes, all looks really great and we can see that Andy is happy with the new arrangement. Thank you for including the photos of the Cross and the loving remembrances of your dear Freckles, Louie and Dougy…. thank you Doug…

    • It’s just phase one. Phase two is to figure out the new carpet cleaner and deal with nearly 23 years of first and stains accumulated since I moved here. Kathy and Shannon will be here again around the 4th of July holiday. They llan on doing more of the same. Yes. I am blessed with a great family and family of friends!

      • Doug, that’s so nice you have Kathy and Shannon returning on 4th of July weekend… something so nice to look forward to. Am sure Andy loves all the attention and love they shower on him too… and by then, the weather will be nice.. we’ll feel better in general with summer’s arrival. You, Kathy and Shannon have inspired me to start a little clean up here… thanks for the good prompting!!!

  2. Seeing Dougy’s paw prints made me tear up. 😿

What a great job your sister and niece did on your home! It looks airy and ready for spring now. I’m almost jealous! I wish someone would come in and make my apartment look that good!

    • Don’t think I wasn’t happily surprised when I saw how much they got done or that it easily will make my ability to get around in the apartment more easily with wheelchair or walker!

      Doug

    • Once the carpet cleaner I just bought is figured out, 23 years of living and grinding filth (and smells!)into the carpet should top the process!

Yes, they worked fast! Both have moved often to new opportunities, so have learned how to shed “stuff” mercilessly, buying replacement of fewerand fewer things instead of paying for thr hassle of shipping things they can do without. The call themselves minimalist, so when I gave them carte blanche on what totoss, and suggested a few that they also could toss.
