26Mar26: a busy morning on Lane 2…

The front door has to be open long enough for tons of these nasties to get in. I’ve tossed whole plates of food because one landed on them! I hate these bugs! Soooo, this is Fred the Fly, alive, preparing to dive bomb my breakfast.
This is Dead Fred, stuck on the wall after a swift swat with my Murder Wand. The only good fly is one about to die. Better: very squashed and dead!!
This arrangement has worked incredibly well to limit the Greenies mess around the ottoman.
A few get away. Used to be the carpet was a solid mass of escaped Greenies. Anything that helps housekeeping is a boon to a mildly disabled guy!
A bonus kitty! When I took this photo, I planned on editing it down to the left hand kitty. Then I noticed I got this double Andy, thanks to the full-length mirror. LOL! Loving the jaunty angle of his tail in the mirror image.
I have to dump and record leakage from my surgical wound every..sort of…eight hours. It is slowing down to almost nothing, which I find encouraging. It isn’t hard, stinky, or difficult, just a bit too much routine at eight hours. I’ve not done well on that. On top of it, the measuring cup used to get drainage amount is poorly marked. As a former guy who was involved in measurement work that was at the thousandth of an inch, I abhor sloppy measuring tools!
Andy ate a few Greenies, left before I could snap a photo, and is over by the full-length mirror at his stainless steel water fountain.

=(^+^)=

I  have a wash load of clothes nearly ready to dry. Andy put some souvenirs in his litter box that I can dig out. I’m feeling stronger each day and more confident in how to transfer from wheelchair to chair or whatever, a maneuver that requires a thoughtful, careful, slow-as-needed motion one to be safe. Lock those brakes, Doug! I’m beginning to develop those muscle memories that help make tasks semi-automatic. Semi-automatic because never, ever must they get so cool you forget the brakes or to have the wheelchair positioned at aless than optimum place relative to where you want to go!

=(^+^)=

You came here for Andy. He came back to the ottoman to give you some of himself! Here’s my kitty, bowing at me and the camera…
…but tgis hs why he stopped by.
Greenies! Purr! Purr!
Oops! He cleaned up, but there’s a crumb hanging on the end of that eyebrow “whisker.”
Don’t be a distracted flier! Victory! Another dead one.

    • My disabilities haven’t been categorized yet. I think the Veterans Administration sign in tests for me in May will do that for their purposes of knowing which services I qualify for. That’s a guesd. I know others who have genuine disabilities from war injuries, for example. who can say the VA classified them as x% whatever.

    • I’m getting a bit ahead on the recovery steps, so need to reread the papers so I don’t blow it, but I do feel invigorated by the prognosis for no cancer in me now, just come back periodically to verify this holds true. Follow-ups are what I do! I feel welk, Andy and I like the new arrangements my sister and niece made, and the sun shines outside out window, on fact and metaphorically!

    • Rereading my discharge papers – a a small book in size, I swear! – I realized I’m mostly doing things right, yet some like vacuuming are ahead of time and some of the exercises are, too. You are right about cooling it a bit and return to the recommendations!

  1. It’s always enjoyable to see all the great photos you share with us, Doug… and yes that photo of Andy and his reflection is perfect!! As if he is saying “wow i am that handsome fellow all tell me i am”… Much love and best thots to you and Andy for continued speedy recovery…

    • Thanks! I try to keep this more Andrew-centric, but I think it’s important other men with this in the family be aware that they are vulnerable. My personal experience may reflect having a really good surgeon or other factors I’m happy to attribute the staff at Regional West Hospiral in Scottsbluff or that I just am a told old bird, but I’m happy all is well

  2. Sounds like recovery is going along fairly smoothly! Great Greenie containment method! All good Andy pics, and I really like the one that includes the mirror image!

    • It seems, on rereading the discharge information, that I jumped the gun on some things and got behind on others! Anyway, I’ll be a good guy now, and do things in proper order.

  3. I thought it was early to have flies around! Not a fan of theme either. It’s ant season here. Annoying but in a different way. Good to hear you are doing well and Andy seems pretty happy you are home again.
