27Feb26: What’s up?

Feeling a bit punk today. This will be a short one.
Andy’s fine, but unhappy with the canned food that looks like gravy over plain old dry kitty food. I try to mash the mess down to make it more like pate, but you can’t mess with a kitty when it comes to food!

(I’ve reordered the hairball formula pate kitty food. It will arrive in one to three days. The slop in the can is for senior cats but is of a size that a cat with poor teeth could choke on it if they couldn’t chew it into smaller chunks. P.S. Andy has excellent dental health, thanks to a lifelong appetite for Greenies! His veterinarian was surprised.)

    • Yes, Andy lives the pate. When a box arrived on 2-28, Andy was very happy because it was all cans of pate kitty food! When I popped a can, he was there. I let him sniff it – heaven! – and he happily licked the plate clean when he finally got some for lunch.

  1. Ohhh dear Doug, so sorry you aren’t feeling stellar today.. hoping that as the day goes on you do feel better… and hopefully too Andy will be more interested in his food… i know it taxes us when our kitties aren’t having interest in their food… All the best to you and Andy…

  2. At the advice of a vet, some years ago, I usually add some stove-warmed water to the cat food to make a sort of sauce. It ensures that they receive some extra hydration. My cats seem to like it, and it makes ordinary canned stuff a bit special.

    • I always add water to his wet food, but zap the whole plate in the microwave if the wet food was refrigerated. Out of the freshly opened can, I just add the water. As for hydration, Andy has always been good about drinking water. Of course, I’ve always used fountain-style water systems.
