26Aug25: dematting Andy results in distrust…

When Andy is dematted…
…he will stop by…
…but he barely let’s me…
…touch him.
Things he usually likes…
…become terror to him.

=(^+^)=

It really upsets Andy when he is dematted. I try not to do too many at once or use any method that results in pulled hair. That’s a pretty good trick

He’ll never get over a bad effort. He will, maybe by tomorrow, maybe not, start coming closer.

In the meantime, I won’t see Andy that much during the day

Yes, I made the mistake yesterday of using a dematting tool that ended up being too aggressive. I found that out the hard way and will retire that tool!

    • Andy resists being held for any long period, and it took linger to deal with several mats than his tolerance allowed. All’s well now, though. He seems to realize their problem spits in his coat are gone and he’s come around .

    • It helps him deal with other mats. The ones I rem9ved he tried to lickand bite off. I think he eventually realized he benefited from my help because he came around later and was his normal kitty self!

  1. Oh my, sorry to hear that. Hoping Andy forgets about it soon. It really is better that the mats are gone, it’s just sad that the removal process is so upsetting to the kitty.

    • Hours later the same day, he was getting back into normal. Unfortunately, he has two nearly bald spits on his back end, but he seems to be OK with it. I imagine not having those big lumps back there that wouldn’t go away by licking is a relief
