18Feb26: “Nothing to eat, Doug.”

Andy’s stressed out. It’sa few minutes after midnight and…
…there’s nothing to eat.
I dumped out a handful. Better put a lot back!
Nom! Nom!
He’s a happy furball now.

  1. Andy is looking great, Doug… and with our kitties here, i sometimes wonder if i should just open the can and throw it directly into the trash… as there is more often than not, no interest in what has just been opened. Thank you too Leah for your good thots on the sensitive nature of the kitty whiskers. Some companies make bowls specifically designed to not cause discomfort for the kitties… Doug hoping today is a good day for you and Andy… wishing you both well..

    • I can verify that one such kitty-friendly set gets pretty much the same “eat to the rim only: response.

Yes, toss it unopened seems reasonable for all Andy eats of it. Heck! I even microwave it a few seconds to take off the chill before I give it to Andy!

    • That’s been recommended for me, too. Snack between light neals, making an effort, of course, for a balanced diet in the process so snacks could be an energy bar, later a glass of fruit juice, a banana, etc.

  2. Hmmm. Our cats don’t like to eat all contents of bowls, and it’s said to be due to over stimulation of the whiskers coming into contact with the bowl – whiskers are very sensitive. So, I wonder if heaping the food up more would cause Andy to eat more instead of leaving it?! We have a tortie who will hollar for food if there are any bare bowl spaces amidst the food nuggets. The hubs calls her “a liar”.
