I miss Andy’s groomer, Dodi. She did a fantastic job on Andy.

On the other hand, Andy is one handsome kitty boy when he’s in his full Persian coat!
=(^+^)=
I took a tumble yesterday when my left foot tangled up in that >#@!%&*÷#@< oxygen line. It pulled me to the left, which tilted my walker, which further threw my balance off, then pulled me down. I landed on the carpet with the side of my left knee and against the front room kitty tree with my left shoulder.
I anticipate lovely hematomas on my upper left thigh and left shoulder.
Fortunately, I was able to use my righted walker and the cat tree to support me while I pulled myself up.
I once noted to my nephrologist that being on air wasn’t any problem, that I do sleep and feel better for the light amount he prescribed. I also noted my opinion that there must be lots of older people having accidents that furthered their decline.
My nephrologist verified that my comment is true. Now, I have personal experience with a full oxygen-line-induced fall, not just a few near misses that alerted me to the potential danger.
I hope you are not seriously hurt, Doug, but still, something needs to be done about making those lines less dangerous.
Mr Andy looks gorgeous in his full Persian glory.
Dolly, I looked into those portable units. It seems they create puffs of oxygen instead of a steady stream. Once you switch to them, Medicare doesn’t allow you to switch back, meaning you’d better like puffed oxygen or go without! Anyway, I came out of the falkwithout bruises, amazingly enough, though the Middleton on the left foot looks a bit rough. It’s not sore after two days, though, another unlikely outcome of the fall!
Doug
I am glad there are no serious consequences of the fall, but the danger remains. Is it possible to organize those cables and tubes in some kind of sleeves?
I am glad to hear you are okay. Please be careful.
It’s a matter of luck and learning to move slower than one is used to.
Doug
Thank goodness you weren’t really hurt
Yes! Thanks to luck.
Doug
Andy looks great. Sorry you had a fall. Glad you are OK.
Very much a matter of luck!
Doug
Dear Doug – Hope you feel better now, happily there was the cat tree, very useful. 🙂 I noticed that Andy had not his “summer body” but never mind, he seems very comfortable and he understands- I am sure 🙂 Amitiés
There aren’t many groomers who like to do cat grooming, unfortunately, and those I am aware of in my area are in different towns. Andy would not like being in a carrier as long as it would take to make the round trips plus bring groomed! I’ve been able to keep the apartment around a comfortable temperature for Andy and me. Thanks to air conditioning.
Doug
Well done, Doug. And thanks for Andy’s precious expressions.
I continue to be amazed how expressive he can be!
Doug
Must be grand to live in his house, Doug. ♥
Wow Be careful, Doug, I’m so glad that you were able to get yourself up! Andy’s fur is so thick and pretty. ❤️
Yes, I was very fortunate. I had one where my oxygen tank threw me off and I fell backwards on pavement! I learned to lean slightly forward or take it off long enough to put my walker in my car or to take it out, what U was doing when I had that fall. No injury that time either, a very lucky one!
Doug
I’m glad!
I hope you are OK. Hematomas can be nasty.
And Andy is always dressed dressed for success.
I should have had a couple big ones, but had a softish landing!
Doug
Landing on a kitty is not considered goof form, Doug!
I agree, Doug. Andy looks handsome, with or without the groomers fine work.
It’s a good thing that you weren’t seriously hurt by the fall. Yes, old age brings conditions that are embarrassing and potentially harmful.
I was fortunate this time. I have balance issues that mean I need to be a bit more cautious when I move about… even when using a walker!
Doug
I hope you’re okay!
I am soooo scared of trip & falls, esp with my knee issues, a traditional tub, and a weird habit of closing my eyes while I shower. I don’t know what that’s about but it’sno longer okay!
Stay safe!!
I have to be careful not to close my eyes when standing because my balance was affected by an infection in my right ear when I also suffered shingles in 2007. I understand what your concerns – also mine! – are for falls.
Doug
Gads!!
Until a couple years ago, I had amazing balance. Losing it has been confusing!!
I’m so pleased you were able to get yourself up
I learned how to get from falls when I had responsibilities for my elderly parents in the 1990s and early 2000s. I learned to relax into a fall and use upper body strength to pull myself up.
Doug
Rugby taught me to relax into a fall, but now I cannot spring to my feet and carry on 🙂
Sorry to read this painful news, Doug. Wishing you all the best and a good recovery!
Fortunately for me, my dignity took the bigger fall! I’m sore but suffered no broken bones.
Doug
Gosh Doug, I’m so sorry you fell! I hope everything heals quickly! I have fallen about two times, but was fortunate to have no injuries. Both my husband and I have noticed that trying to turn too quickly often makes us lose our balance. I have to remind myself to move slowly. Andy’s untrimmed fur is just marvelous, but I know it mats more easily that way.
Yes, quick movements are dangerous for me now, too! A couple Extra Strength Tylenol tablets takes care of the mild pain, but I’m still a bit stiff from the fall.
Doug
Dear Doug, I am sorry to hear this too, I hope and wish everything is fine. I don’t know what to say, but dear, please be careful for this kind of things, Love and Hugs, nia
Thanks, nia! Moving too fast or not paying attention to the oxygen line both are disastrous for me. I haven’t fully adjusted to being an old man yet! Fortunately, I’m a bit sore on the left side but broke nothing other than my dignity.
Doug
Dear Doug, It could have been something more serious, God Saved you, I know what you mean, I am like that, and everyday I injured myself. Last week I fell down on the stairs, but I was lucky too, just my knee was a little bit problem. But now I am fine. Stairs are my nightmare… Love, nia
we are so sorry for this horrible moment… hugs and potp for a good recovery….
Fortunately, I suffered no broken bones, just a bit of breakage to my dignity! As mentioned in another comment, I haven’t fully adjusted yet to being an old guy. I need to pay more attention to my environment and not move fast.
