Andy stopped by for Greenies.

He is suspicious of me.

Am I going to trap him for medications?

Greenies!

Dang that Doug!

Time to clean up after eating!

Andy is vigilant!

You can clean up and watch Doug, too.

Andy was happy to see me when I got home.

I was happy to see him!

Always ready to play: Donna’s sweet dog, Tootsie!

The Thanksgiving traditional plate. I didn’t have everything on the plate, so filled a second plateful. Gad! “Full” is the operative word!

If I take photos of other people, I feel I need to take a “selfie” to balance things out. I always look unhappy or mad in them. That’s because I’m thinking about basic focus and composition before I snap the photo.

Andy doesn’t get to have Thanksgiving food because most of it isn’t acceptable for kitty cats.

“What? You get to eat like a pig, enjoying lots of goodies you don’t share with me?”

“Nothing for kitties to be thankful for.”

I’d say a cat’s ability to get 16 hours of sleep a day is something for which they can give thanks!

I slept through most of the day.

So this is a look at the past!

Wow! I really did look like I just came down from the mountains back then!

Andy just looked as cute as ever!

Boop! Some things never get old for either Andy or me!

For example…the hunting for moths!

=(^+^)=
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving in the USA. I’ve accepted an invitation from Tootsie’s human, Donna, who is a great host and a longtime friend. I’m taking a cherry crunch pie that I will need to bake today and a case of a soft drink Donna goes through fairly fast since it is one of the drinks available to the Class of 1966 when we have our monthly luncheons there.

Andy hopped up onto the ottoman from behind.

“What were you doing down there, Andy?”

I’d just put some Greenies out for him on the lapboard but he wasn’t interested…

…because he decided to snack on Greenies he’d knocked onto the floor earlier. That’s a first for my kitty. Those usually end up going into the trash.

Hiding in the shadow of the toilet…

…Andy doesn’t ever realize he’s a sitting duck!

The medicine applicators await…

…the more or less compliant Andy. Wrapping him in the towel works wonders that way!

No reason to hide now, but Andy returned to the toilet because I close the door when I first come in. That prevents a chase through the apartment. It has happened!
=(^+^)=
It’s in the shadows where this scenario takes place, yet this post should give you a little idea of how I medicate Andy.
Unbelievably, when he is over by the toilet, all I have to do is walk over there, put my hands under his chest and stomach, and walk back with him to a stool where I dry off after a shower.
Holding Andy up in the air with one hand behind his front legs, I wrap the little darling in the towel with the other. He tolerates this amazingly well.
Andy usually twists and turns his head when I give him the liquid blood pressure medicine with the syringe, but the application of the hyperthyroidism cream on the ear flap goes much easier with the applicator tube.

Andy swished his tail out of my reach.

I tried massaging his back.

That felt awkward from this end of the kitty.

The tail! Sooo floofy!

Now I have Andy’s attention!

“Not cool, Doug! Leave my tail alone!”
=(^+^)=
Some days, Andy’d just as soon I leave him alone. That’s not his main concern just now….

“There aren’t any Greenies out, Doug.”

Silly kitty! He’s upset because he wants fresh Greenies, even though the ones on the lapboard are OK and just as fresh as those in the tub.

Note the despair in his expression. Poor kitty!

He’ll be OK when he wakes up.

Andy has the medication routine and time down.

While I was getting the medications prepared, this is where the little darling was watching from.

Filling the orange syringe is the “hard” part, mostly because Andy hears me in the kitchen, removing the medicine from the refrigerator.
=(^+^)=
The part I can’t show you is how he escaped from the north bathroom, sneaked through the front room, hiding under chairs and getting between the recliner and me.
Keep in mind that I use a walker, giving the nimble Andy a huge advantage to start with!
Andy sprinted into the south bedroom, hiding briefly in the south bathroom.
I have to use a walking stick between the recliner and a walker I leave in the south bedroom. It was that walking stick I used to corral Andy deep into the south bathroom, behind the toilet. It was a snap, then. to roll my walker over and pick the little rascal up!
Victory is mine, Andrew!
He got his medications on time, if under huge protest. To his credit, once he was wrapped in the towel, he was mostly cooperative. Mostly enough for a kitty boy, anyway!

Andy hopped up on the ottoman just as I began eating lunch.

He did his kitty bath while I re-evaluated what I needed to do after lunch.

Yeah, Andy! It’s ” medicate the kitty” time next. I hoped you’d be in the north bathroom, my best bet for corraling you!

Lunch done, I headed for the north bathroom. Andy finished his kitty bath several minutes earlier, and I was reasonably sure he’d headed there.

That was simple: Andy was hiding in plain view by the toilet. I captured him without a whimper and gave him his medicines! He even purred, then headed out to feel safe in the shower!

I felt like a nice cuppa first harvest Darjeeling tea. Andy followed me a bit later, this being his pattern anytime I do anything in the kitchen.

While I waited for the water to boil, I filled the tea ball with the loose Darjeeling tea leaves. Andy waited patiently till I opened the cabinets one by one so he could do his mousie search. (No mousies! Never have been.)

=(^+^)=
Still a very good kitty! Andy behaved perfectly during medication time, the fourth day in a row!

It was an exhausting day! It began with coffee and rolls with our neighbor, ordering oxygen, medicating Andy, lunch, then taking a nap that took us up to 5:30. Where did the day go? There’s a sink full of dishes to end the day and one more medication – the one that is easy that goes in his ear – for Andy. Oh! I just realized a short time ago I needed to do a blog post for tomorrow, which is your “today” or the 21st!

Zzzz…
