12Jul25: it’s a complicated moment…

Andy hid from me most of the day…
…but when he did show up, he resisted contact. I think it was because I caught him a short time earlier and surprised him with his medication.
Yet, he acted like he wanted attention till…
..he walked away from my hand.
Later, he came back, looked behind the oxygen concentrator, then…
…came back to me and gave me an inscrutable cat stare.
I have this to remind me!

=(^+^)=

Andy’s accusatory stare…

I’m not sure, but I think what’s happening is he misses wet kitty food. We ran out of the prescription wet food about a week ago.

Though I ordered this food, it isn’t shipped without the vendor getting approval from the pet’s veterinarian.

I vaguely recall his veterinarian said to stop feeding it to him – and stopping only after Andy’s finished with nearly 24 cans I’d just received! Damn stuff costs nearly $75 for 24 cans plus shipping and handling!

Anyway, I feel Andy’s message to me is, “No matter how full the dry food bowl is kept, I expect the wet food you used to give me in the morning.”

    • Yes, and he just started on n it. He likes it better than the expensive stuff, even though it’s by the same company.

  1. It’s awful what they charge for prescription foods. Over the years I’ve had cats on it for different health reasons and now my cat Scout is on the dry dental food. So far it seems to be helping her teeth and it’s been over a year since she’s had dental problems.

    • Andy’s Greenies treats have been his go to treat for all of his life, and they do keep his teeth clean. He really enjoys the Roral Canon Persian dry food. Though it’s pricey, too, a bag lasts some time. I keep thinking about how old timey kitties got table scraps and any birds or mousies they could catch…and lived short, terrible lives. Our pampered modern kitties are fortunate weare willing and able to spend big bucks for the pleasures of having them around!

  2. The prescription foods are real expensive, and over the years with one cat or another, I’ve noted they won’t eat the stuff for long. Andy looks good Doug. Whatever he is getting seems to agree with him.

    • Yes, he seems to put on a little healthy weight, too. For a while, he was getting skinny. I look forward to his veterinarian appointment next Monday to see how much he weighs now. He had been slowly adding back some he’d lost before the hyperthyroidism treatments reversed the loss.

    • It should be. I have an appointment for the 20th for him, next Monday, and that’s one of my questions to review with his veterinarian.

  3. My guys are super finicky. In the morning, I put a small amount of wet food in the bowl, some warm water, stir, and then add some dry food on top, just as I put it down. They like the “gravy.” and eat the dry food.
    It ain’t easy being a cat’s parent!

  4. You are lucky he ate prescription cat food. None of my cats will eat it. They suggested it for Gus after his UR surgery but nope. Not gonna happen. I give him a good grade wet food instead and so far, he’s good. Gracie wouldn’t eat anything suggested for her. At the end, she only wanted rotisserie chicken. Cats are like us. We like what we like (and I don’t understand why potato chips aren’t on the superfood list!). 🙂
