11Mar26: another day of rest…

It looks like the bumps there still.
Speaking of “bumps,” Andy just wants to eat and sleep.

=(^+^)=

Todsy was a day at the hospital. During dialysis,  several blood samples were taken to start blood cultures to determine the cause of my elevated white blood cells and diminished red. I believe another blood sample was taken to retest the white and red cell levels.

After dialysis,  I was pushed around in a wheelchair for a chest X-ray and one of those awful nose swabs. I didn’t need it, but asked for a barf bag. I always get close to that reaction.

A final wheelchair ride to my car ended my hospital business.

I’ve put off getting gasoline for several days because I’ve felt so weak. However, when your car warning system tells you you have a 35-mile gasoline reserve and get a fillup…NOW!..tired and weak nor not, you’d better just do it. I struggled and had to open the back door closest to the pump to get a rest while $3.79 Trump Iran war gasoline filled my tank to an amazing 10.4 US gallons of liquid gold. That’s the most I’ve ever had to put in my tank. Oh well, in California, they’re paying closer to $6.00 for the same stuff.

The hospital dietician stopped by dialysis yesterday, too. Her recommendation for the low red blood cells issue was I probably wasn’t eating enough meat or the taking the right protein. There are protein drinks, but she felt meat was a better approach for me.

I recently discovered wraps at Subway. The sandwiches tend to be too carbo-heavy for me.

The wraps are heavy with meat, however, and whatever else you want in them. I get them with lettuce, tomato, no cheese, and a teriyaki viaigrette. Initially, the meat element seemed too much, but the report I got lets me know this can be a good way to get that red blood cell up.

I’ve tried turkey and beef wraps so far.

  1. I love Subway’s new protein pockets- and I love the price, only $3.99. In my state, if you are handicap, you can beep the horn and someone is supposed to help you unless they are the only one working. It should be that way everywhere.

    • Yes, those are good, too, and they are the same price here. What I like about them is the carb part is minimal. The sandwiches are too much fir me. Even the six inches ones. I hate to toss food!

    • I can’t answer those questions. I have pneumonia and am in the emergency room as I type. They are going to.put m we on oral antibiotics but which one ones I don’t know yet. While sleeping, I had three Alliance Police Department officers come into.my apartment because the hospital couldn’t get me on phone. I saw someone called from the hospital but it was the 762-0667 general number
Who the hell called? Any of hundreds, I suppose, who we work h e rr
I’ve told people to call.mr from numbers that are more direct lines to them and show up.with their caller ID or department. Anyway the apartment id a mess. Cat poop in bags, cat hair everywhere because of the false spring, an partially eaten Greenies. I didn’t feel up to cleaning or eating or anything.and my sister, who is coming Sunday with my niece said “Don’t clean up. We’ll do it when we get there.” Great! The police sergeant, when I told him that, asked for my sister’s phone number. Yes he called her. Yes she verified what I told him. I bet I get a housekeeping verification tour by the APD sometime early next week. I very never been so embarrassed and humiliated! On top of it, he was asking me questions at the same time a dialysis nurses was asking me questions on the phone. I’m just shaking off the grogginess of sleep and am freaking out!!!
I’m through with questions for today.

  2. Ohhh dear Doug, yes, we understand how doing any task can become so taxing… this being a bit older is no fun… am there with you in that department. Hoping that you can easily take care of the low red blood cells issue.. and yes, wishing we could be of some help to you.. at least we are sending much love and all good wishes to you and Andy…

    • I have many helpers, actually. It’s just a matter of getting over this foolish notion “I can do it myself.” notion.
