Happy Canada Day!

Though today is the second birthday of my two cats, Andy and Dougy, it also is Canada Day, July 1st, something millions to the north celebrate today. Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian friends and to those Americans who wear a Maple Leaf flag patch on their rucksacks when they travel abroad! This is your day to get wild and crazy!

Lyrics O Canada (English version)

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Lyrics O Canada (French version)

« O Canada! Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!

Car ton bras sait porter l’épée,
Il sait porter la croix!

Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.

Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits. »

Few national anthems are as sweet and beautiful as the Canadian National Anthem. I tear up when I hear it, and I’m an American! There is an informative website called Canadian Heritage where you can read more about “O Canada” and other matters Canadian. It’s worth bookmarking.
