Lavinia Ross sent me an e-mail to let me know Lucio passed. She wrote:
Lucio was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism at the beginning of the month and was on methimazole for it for a little over the last 3 weeks. He was doing OK and was zooming about last night…. problem and I took a stool sample to the vet this morning. While I was out, Lucio died in his cardboard box. I found him after lunch. I am reeling from too many things lately, now this.

No matter what age or circumstance, when they pass, we are reminded again that our cat and dog fur friends have short lives, that they are concentrated packages of joy and amazement while they grace us with their lives, yet they tear a hole in our hearts that never heals when they pass. Hugs and condolences to Lavinia and Rick Ross on the death of Lucio.

She has a memorial garden for friends and animal pals that passed. She notes it’s gotten large over time.
The garden just gained another one. Laurie over at Notes from the Hinterlands just lost her ginger tabby Sherlock. He was 13.

I so feel for you. The shock would have been enormous to find your friend passed. You are not alone so many of us feel the loss like part of us is missing.

Thank you, John. Lucio was a dear friend. Rick is still crying, as am I. Lucio was his computer buddy cat, and he had named him Lucio for his friend the late Lucio Sorre, past president of the Society of Wine Educators. 💙🌈🐾😿
A stray black fat cat that adopted me, many years ago. What a character he was! Taking the motorbike down the entry in the pitch dark, and he would come from knowhere in the darkness, jump up on my chest, head butt me, and purr me to death for feeding. Happy memories.

Ah, dear Cyril. He was a stray who captured my heart, and adopted me. A right character he was. Many times, I’d be taking the motorbike down the alley to the back garage in the darkness after work, he’d come from knowhere and jump up on my chest (he was short and fat, but full of life) where he’s cling on headbutting me and purring in demand to be fed! Ah, memories!
So sad. Always incredibly hard to lose a furbaby.

Thank you, dear Michel. Yes, Rick and I both feel the pain of Lucio’s departure from this life. His friend Marcus cat is very quiet and subdued right now. We are trying to console him as best we can. 💙🌈🐾😿

it is heartbreaking… and it needs such a long time till tze memories we made bring smiles instead tears… but at least we have memories, they are there and stay forever with us
