12Jun23: BREAKING “MEWS”!!!

I declared miller season over yesterday, then Andrew spotted one in the lampshade!

He didn’t catch it the first time.

But he persevered and caught it several times later. He pattycaked it with his paw, let it fly off as best it could, caught it again and again, repeating his little miller game. Eventually, barely able to take to the air, the miller dropped to the floor and hid in the clutter!

Andy’s cup ran over! Next it was a fly on the CD cabinet! He had his chance at it…

…then I said to hell with it. That bug bugged me earlier and it is MINE!!

=(^+^)=

Andy’s not in the room…but his prey is back on the lampshade! Battered in battle with a cat, this miller must follow the imperative of its kind: go to the light!

=(^+^)=

Andy’s “horns” are up in the last photo. He’s so cute when his kitty’s on! RAWR! I had to let him see and sniff the extinct fly, as you might expect, because he’s a cat and his job is to be curious.

Eighty-six years ago on June 12th, my parents got married. Bill and Esther, their best friends, stood with them. Mom and Dad stood with Bill and Esther when they got married, too. Both their marriages lasted till death of the husband.

      • Thank you…

But my dad died in 2017 and I currently lose my mom to Alzheimer’s

        He was 67 at death

She is only early 70’s – was early onset

But they had a true love and a wonderful life together that was far too short ☹️

But they were truly in love always ❤️ my mom was always the funny one and my dad was the serious one lol ❤️

        • I’m sorry. Sixty-seven is too young. Alzheimer’s is tragic for how it robs its victims of connection with loved ones. I was fortunate in that my father lived to be 92 and my mother was just a few days short of 99.

          • Yes – they were way too young. I never saw that coming for their end ☹️ is hard to watch my mom go away in front of me 💔 but ya know life happens sometimes and you deal with the cards you are dealt

Sometimes at work we have people who are over 100 😮 I think the oldest I have had was 107 😮

Imagine the life they have seen – that always blows my mind! Lol

          • A friend’s mother recently died at 107 and a few months old. She was mentally fine till the end, if physically disabled.

          • Wow!! That’s always incredible to me to think how much they have seen in their lifetime!! 😮

Not to mention staying healthy for most part!! 🙏

          • Yes, horse and buggy to travel to the moon. Or short hand-crank movies to whole movies made with computer technology.

          • I used to double my age at any stage of life. If any of my family achieved that age or more, I felt I had at least twice my age to go. At age 75, I have a very difficult new goal to achieve! LOL!

          • Hahaha that’s funny

I always used to be the youngest of people – and now I am the oldest always lol

Sometimes I will mention old shows or do HILARIOUS lines from an 80’s movie or something and none of them catch it and if I explain they still don’t know 😮

Then I always feel old lol ✌️

  1. The two boys on the hunt!

That is a beautiful memory of your parents and of their best friends, Doug. 86 years ago! The River of Time flows swiftly.

This is where my father’s family is from. He and my mother have been long gone, but I think of him and Mom often. She said her happiest days were down there.

    • It may have been an economically tough place to live at times, but one can only marvel at the beauty of Appalachia and the mountain culture of handcrafts, music we all love!

    • I haven’t seen any millers today, but I went overboard yesterday, and Andy got to battle two of them. I took care of the flies.

  2. Sounds like he had a fabulous time. We still have one fluttering around upstairs. It stayed high up and escaped all Louise’s attempts. It went into the attic. I have to get new moth balls in case it’s actually a wool moth LOL
