12Dec24: an apology…

Andy stares at me until I figure out what’s on his peanut brain.
Yeah, medicine time comes with some perils.
Andy’s shaved tummy from his last veterinarian’s appointment (ultrasound) mostly is hidden by…
…his thick, long coat…

…or his bushy tail! He could use a good brushing to make him look his best. He resists brushing, though, something I’m working on since brushing will help minimize mats.

=(^+^)=

Now, the apology: I have used Jetpack for months now instead of WordPress.

Little by little, I’m finding out quirks on doing responses to comments, for example.

In this learning process, I just came across a place where all unanswered, pending reader comments are.

If you are a reader whose comments aren’t made within two or three days of my posting, there’s a good chance I missed them, and you didn’t get a response back.

I prided myself on answering all comments when it was easier to do on WordPress, and am upset with myself for letting you regulars who comment every few days on several posts at once because you are the readers most likely to never have got a response back from me in the earliest days of my using Jetpack! Shame!

Also, I find Jetpack miserable for following you. Commenting on your posts becomes a hassle, too.

I still haven’t put effort into setting up that new laptop I had to get months ago. It came down to re-establishing old accounts but needing to go through recreating passwords and other hassles I just wasn’t prepared for… and still am not!

Getting back to doing this on WordPress, though, would be more comfortable, though there was something going on, right, where it seemed like we had to switch to Jetpack for some reason? They – WordPress- sure as hell charged me the $300 for use of their server and expanded services for how I use them…plus $19 for phainopepla.com, so I guess they still exist in some form other than through Jetpack. Darned if I know.

=(>+<)=

Oops! I just noticed I didn’t post on the 11th! Holiday months mess me up in many ways.

  1. I totally agree about JetPack. I didn’t join when they wanted everyone to migrate. I had discovered that certain blogs won’t open on my laptop if they are on JetPack, just my phone. I wasn’t sure what that was all about. (It hasn’t changed for those blogs.) On the other hand, I’ve never had an issue accessing your blog.

  2. That’s a nasty cut, Doug! I wish that Andy would allow you to brush him and medicate him more easily. I have the Jetpack app on my iPhone and iPad. It is handy for answering comments and that’s about all its good for. I have always used the WP version for all of my posts. Uploading photos is much easier this way. Have a fine weekend, Doug!

  3. WP getsw a full pound of flesh for every little add on we use. I get bombarded by them to use their SEO program – for bige bucks.

  4. I’m still with the original WP from 13 years ago. I’m even on the old classic editor. I tried the new block but had so much trouble with pictures I gave up. New isn’t always better. You answered a question for me though. I find commenting on posts different for different blogs. Maybe some have gone to Jetpack or something similar. For one I have to click the box that says I’m human yet I don’t do that for any other blogs. I love technology as much as you do! 🙁

    • I’m on the old editor in WP, as far as how my blog shows up on WP or Facebook, buy looks pretty plain on Jetpack. I also found the new editor on WP tedious, not what I would call especially user friendly.

    • I know I’d gladly hire Rocky or Rambo for the task. Andy is relatively easy to medicate… for a cat! In my case, mobility issues complicate catching him, but he’s older now, too.

  5. Yikes, it seems Andy really doesn’t like meds! He’s such a furry boy, too. I never tried Jetpack as I’m really wary of new stuff. OTOH WordPress has messed up my stats page for days and I can’t seem to find help. All tech scares me especially new stuff. I’m even more sick now, need more help with many things from the hubs, can’t ask him for extra tech help now.

    • My “new” stats page sucks, it has less info and is difficult to read. Why must WP continually make arbitrary and ridiculous changes, Leah? I tried to get the old stats page back, I can’t find it. Are these people trying to run users off of the platform?

    • I think I had some idea WP was ending and Jetpack was taking over, so I switched. Of course I was mistaken. I am not happy withsomef3atur3s of Jetpack, am learning more things about it in time, but find following people harder, especially commenting on their blogs.
