11Jan25: sneaking up on Andy…

Giving Andy his medication is easiest when I can sneak up on him.
Ate his eyes a little bit open?
I think so!
Will he stay still for his medicine??
Uh oh! He’s awake now!

=(^+^)=

I usually can hold Andy still long enough to put the hyperthyroidism  medicine in his ear. I have to be stealthy, though, to get to the point I can hold him down.

  1. Good job, Doug! I am lucky with Wynken she will hold still, for liquids at least. Pills require more effort on my part. She is on liquid antibiotics right now, and she will open her mouth for me to squirt it in from the side.

    • That’s exactly what happens with Andy. I found I can minimize this from happening if I squirter the medicine in small amounts and pause between squirms so he can swallow it.

    • Andy resists till you have him wrapped in a towel or are just holding him. The exception is when the medication is liquid, then I have a little resistance.

    • Yes, the ear medicine is easily administered. Sometimes, I don’t even have to pick him up or wrap him in the towel. Putting a firm hand on him while I rub the medicine in his ear, then, is all it takes!
