February 24th, in 1914, my mother was born. She lived to be just short of 99 years old. She died on January 5, 2013.
She met all of my kitties.
Louie was so big she thought he was a Cheetah.
Andy and Dougy were kittens the first time I took them over to the care center for her to see them.
Andy perched on top of the carrier most of the time we were there and Dougy did his exploration thing, looking all around Mom’s room.
When he got toward the door, Mom became alarmed that he might get out and lost. I closed the door and put him and Andy on her lap, where they rested till I put them back in the carrier and left.
Yes, their personalities already manifested themselves in the kittens.
What sweet kitties to be so nice to your mother!
She loved animals, so they understood they were welcome with her.
Your mother had a very long life! I am glad she got to meet all the kitties, Doug. That is a beautiful memory of her with Dougy and Andy resting on her lap.
They were just a few months old and their personalities were already manifesting in them!
Waking up to a face like that is touching,,,,,reminds me I should have opened the seafood buffet an hour ago 🐱
Yes, it is.
Sweet memories of your Mom and your kitties !
Andy, like most cats, likes his routine. So does his owner I bet !
I do prefer routine over changes to routine. Yes, it’s fun rembering my Mom’s reactions to the kitten boys!
Happy Birthday to you mom in Heaven. My mom was born in 1912 and made it to her 84 birthday. She loved animals but wanted no pets for me in the apartments we lived in imagining me and the cats or dogs wrecking the place.
They definitely do make a mess of the apartment or home! I didn’t realize how much they could mess up till I got Andy and his late brother Dougy as kittens.
My mom was born in 1913 and she was an animal lover too. When I was out of the house, she would catsit for me in her home. It was like a spa for my cat. All that attention!
Yes, one option I have for Andy when I have my operation may be like that!
My Mum, born in 1922, lived as long as yours
It is encouraging to realize longevity is part of one’s genetic heritage! My paternal side lives into the 90s, too.
ha you two boys are well prepared for the last february week.. even the fur is purrfect arranged
Best of all,the subzero weather of the last week is over, and this week is predicted to be more springtime!
I bet Andy was glad you put his fur back into place and he didn’t have to do it himself! So nice that your Mom got to meet and enjoy the kitties!
I’m glad she did, too! Some of the other care enter residents also got to meet them. I think people who had pets before time and life’s vicissitudes put them in care center would benefit if there could be a resident cat or small dog with the right demeanor. I remember one of the staff had a cute small dog that the m a management allowed to be at work with her. It was a bad doggy for begging for food from the residents at meal times and gained weight doing it! His human eventually decided her dog needed to stay in her office during meal times. Residents were told to ignore him if he sneaked out to beg food. As if that stopped them! LOL! My mother was especially bad about giving him food.
P.S. Yes, he still spends a token amount of time straightening g out his coat because no matter how good a job I do doing it, he knows how he likes it!
What a nice collection of memories!
Beba has a massage ritual that starts with her turning so her butt is facing me. I don’t enjoy that part, but it is what it is.
Yeah, I get a good show of Andy’s butt when he decides the ritual is complete and he gets ready to hop off of the cat tree! Not cute, cat butts!
You’re lucky.. butt display is the start & core of our ritual. When she’s done, she faces me.
