Andy is a bit, um, upset!Doug brought this out.A little grooming on the side, where tiny mats form.Gad! The chest is a terrible mat place!Back to the back. Andy resisted the chest combing.Toward the butt, place where humongous mats form.More on the side. Those near-tummy mats are a bit accessible there, though wrestling Andy onto his back’s necessary to get those better on his front legs and those on his tummy. He resists brushing there, of course. Too sensitive!I’m nearly done for now, Andy. More brushing is needed, but your tolerance level has been met. Smell the brush! There’s solace in some Greenies treats!

My parents had a long-haired Tuxedo. Beautiful cat with lots of extremely fine fur. One year things got out of hand, and they ended up needing to cut the mats out.

Some cats aren’t that fond of brushing. Nod loves it, Silkie tolerates a little of it. The late Wynken, a long haired cat, loved it.
Andy and the late Dougy hate/ hated it, but they both matted up really badly if I didn’t work at it.

I don’t know why, but many pets don’t like to be brushed.
I supposed the hair being pulled is uncomfortable….

All three of my cats love to be brushed. If they hear me brushing one, they all come running. Only Sasha is a long hair but she enjoys it most.
I wish I had that good fortune! The comb featured in the photos seems to be the least uncomfortable for Andy.

Maybe more tangles. None of mine get mats. Sometimes Sasha (who is a long hair) will get a knot or two but nothing that would make it painful.
Andy’s coat is very dense, with an undercoat that is very fine.

He doesn’t like the Pet Zoom? Aww!
It surprises me. I think it’s just his general dislike of brushing, no matter the tool.

Ouch
It does require a bit of finesse to minimize hair tugging….

Exactly
you look super! and we hope for many greenies for you
Just as many Greenies as he’d eat….

We’ve had cats who had a little long fur, though not nearly so fuzzy as a Persian kitty. Those mats are a nuisance for sure!
Andy is reasonably good about letting me work them out…sometimes!
