11Aug25: Andy had his nap…now what?

Sleepy boy!
Andy is in deep slumber.
Zzzz….
He heard me pick up the phone.
“Now what, Doug?”
I had to laugh at this exceptionally relaxed sprawl!!
I guess this was predictable. Sleeping again.
My wee angel!

10Aug25: Believe it or not, cats do it, too!

A slow turn around…
…turning…
…turning…
…turning…
…turning…
…then to business! I bet you thought Andy was going to eat the Greenies. Nope! Grooming the tail was the day’s order!

09Aug25: Ick!

Andy came around…
…wanting…
…some lovin’.
Ick! “Wet neck” kitty!
When you live with a Persian, you learn that their ruff is as good as a sponge, and you also learn to limit their lovin’ to head pats or places south of the head when they come with a wet neck!

08Aug25: off to the hospital…

“Andy…”
“…you get to be by yourself for longer than usual today because I have to go to the hospital.”

=(^+^)=

It’s time for a fistulagram, namely, a verification that my dialysis fistula is unobstructed. Any restrictions are dealt with by angioplasty. My experience with this procedure has been that it is easy for the patient, with no pain after the drug wears off.

Andy’s OK with this.

07Aug25: he came, he saw, he…

He came…
He saw….
He anticipated….
Yeah! He anticipated!
Look! It’s going away if you don’t…
…snarf it down, kitty!
Worth the effort. YUM!
Now, take in the scene from a favorite perch!

06Aug25: it started here….

This was Andy the first day I met him.
See the similarities!?

=(^+^)=

05Aug25: Andy enjoys a bit of lovin’…

Andy stopped by.
Time for…
…some…
…lovin’!
Purr! Purr!
“Enough for now, Doug.”
Andy knows when enough is enough!

04Aug25: a mess…

I’m upset.
For the past week, I’ve worn a heart monitor.
On day five…
…I had to change the monitor out for a new one to be worn just the last two days. In the process, I managed to lose the five-day monitor and a mailer that is used to return the monitors. I’ve turned the place upside down and they are nowhere.
Andy knows I’m upset.
He doesn’t know this kit is why…
…but he came around to make me happy.

03Aug25: conflicted…

Andy wants to get closer…
…even as I offer my hand.
However, I’ve done some trimming up and dealing with some bad mats.
That makes him suspicious!
He still wants to get closer…
…maybe!
Eventually he hopped up on the ottoman. This is the “before” picture.

I brushed him. His hair is so thick that the missing chunks don’t show too badly.
Of course, in this last photo, the ungroomed left hind legs ruins the look. (It will grow back, I tell myself! He wiggles a lot while I try to remove the big mats.)
I guess I’m forgiven!

02Aug25: Cats can be so weird!

Andy was just there.
Then…
…he rubbernecked to look at…
…what?!
Nothing, I guess!
Then, he was just there again.

=(>+<)=

This cat grooming kit was delivered Wednesday while I was napping.
It has a variety of tools. The scissors have a blunted tip on one blade and a pointed one on the other. The pointed one pieces the mat easily, and the blunt end will help save accidents when closer to the skin.
In short order, after working briefly on a big butt mat with scissors, I found the electric trimmer cut the mats off faster, with less risk to cat and human. Look at the size of those butt mats I got off Andy!! Poor kitty! They had to be uncomfortable carrying around.
Some blood was shed while Amdy wiggled to get away from me when I was using the scissors. The electric trimmer definitely works better than the scissors on massive mats. I’ll give Andy some time off from my mat patrol. And gradually get’em all!

( No kitties were harmed making this post!)

In less than five wild minutes, I was able to remove some of Andy’s huge butt mats. I think I have one or two more to remove – Andy was upset being held on his back for the removals, hence the human blood sacrifice – and all of the wiggling and “murder mitten” action was as much as I felt like dealing with at one shot! Even then, the new grooming kit proved to be worth the $40 or so it cost.
