After the first few days of starvation-level eating, which was both alarming and frustrating to me, Andy went to town last night. He came over to the ottoman, when eight, nine, ten times he ate several Greenies and took breaks to drink water.
Greenies aren’t meant to be anything more than an occasional treat, of course, but when Andy was barely tasting his wet food and occasionally eating a few pieces of the Royal Canin Persian dry food, it wasn’t life- sustaining.
I worried for Andy’s life, frankly. If it was going to be up to Greenies to get him on track a m d keep him on track, so being it!

I decided to try a different approach.
Mixing the powder from one, and the liquid from the other in a measured amount of water, the medicines were then
sucked into the syringe.
Shooting them into Andy’s mouth worked well, with very little spillage since the amount given was less than a kitty mouthful.
Yay, Andy! Calories are calories. And the syringe is a great idea.
I learn slowly how to dothings for him, but am happy he’s eating a bite better now.

What exactly is wrong? Isn’t he a bit young to be having Kidney & Liver issues?
Andy’s 14.5 years old, amazingly.
The kidney and liver support is to promote goid kidney and liver health since blood work indicated there was a bit of a need to work on those factors. He is anemic, the specific health issue, though he is gaining on it.

Good news Andy is eating something now! Cats are real good at picking up off flavors and textures in their food. Sounds like a good strategy you came up with, Doug. You are both in my thoughts and prayers.

I am glad Andy ate the Greenies. I find the syringe method much easier than pilling, although one of my cats manages to snap her head around and make a mess almost every time.
That’s what I face with Andy.

When you have a sick cat, they get whatever they want. At the end Gracie was living on rotisserie chicken because that was all she would eat.
