14Mar26: this is for the 14th and 25th…

“WHERE’S THE GREENIES”
It is a bit sparse. (The blue cup is significant….)
The hint taken…
…I put out the Greenies!

(The blue cup was my sparkling mineral water.

Andy ate a few Greenies, needed a drink…yes! Out of my cup. I stopped him – perhaps the carbonation was uncomfortable. I said a few words, thought about it,”Heck! I’m on two antibiotics now. Cat mouth or not, I’m drinking that! Antibiotics!”)

=(^+^)=

It was some day – disaster after disaster. I spent at least two or two and a half hours washing dishes and putting groceries away with my oxygen canula hanging out of practical use!
Upset with myself, I put the canula in position. They are best stuck in your nose!

=(^+^)=

My oxygen line tangled with Andy’s dry food – see the huge spill!

He wouldn’t eat any of that when I took his hint he wanted some.

When I turned the corner and saw what he wanted, I was appalled he still wanted me to add to that mess!
That blue cup gets around. I wanted to organize the table before family arrives tomorrow/today. Didn’t happen. (In storytelling, this is foreshadowing an event.)

=(^×^)=

I went to the grocery store this morning.
We will eat lots of enchiladas and tacos this week…I hope!
Uh oh! Remember, the blue cup is significant to this two- for-one!

=(^+^)=

Yes, another fall. It was in my bathroom when I stood up too fast.

No phone on me, no oxygen – left in front room because the antibiotics are making me loose.

Further, my LifeLine lavalier used to get help was in another room. I took it off when it was tangling in my oxygen line. No sleep under that condition!

After that, it same old same old, with police and EMTs doing their emergency things, a trip by ambulance to the emergency room. And blahblahblah. I’m tired of documenting these incidents.

No fun for me, time wasted that was meant for organizing my apartment for the visit.

The blue cup was still on the table when I came back. I was in the emergency room for a bit longer than five and a half hours, virtually the whole afternoon.

I got a ride home in an APD patrol SUV. I didn’t have my phone, so didn’t have phone numbers. It was charging at home. Bus service doesn’t run after 4 o’clock or on weekends. My car was at home since my ride was in an ambulance. I didn’t have my walker. What a mess. The APD doesn’t give rides to good guys as a rule…. When we got to my place, the APD sergeant had to go into my apartment for a walker.

A mess!

  1. Oh dear ! And if the phone and the medalert both need charging at the same time…Glad you have supportive PD and EMT services – prsyers and purrayers that things get better and your visitors arrive safely

    • It was an opportunity to review home safety for me. Water on vinyl is slippery. Keep water off floor! Also there’s a list of phone numbers on the refrigerator, which is right inside and seeable from the front door. I have that on a billfold copy as well, something I am more likely to have than my phone since my insurance cards are in it (and on my phone!). And more.

  2. I am sorry you had another fall. Once your family gets there, they will take care of things and you can rest. Typical cat, won’t eat the spilled food.

  3. Doug, thinking of you and Andy … and very happy your sister and niece will be with you… making enchiladas along with all their good help will prove to make things better!!

    • Yes, but this fall prompted change. I now have important phone numbers in my wallet, too. I am more likely to have wallet since insurance information is one of those things yoy always need handy.

  4. Wow, sorry to hear what a day you had! Medical conditions can be the pits … I had a mild fall recently and now use a walker to get around, just to be safe; and I keep bumping into stuff since there’s not much room. Have a good time with your family!

  5. Does your neighbor keep an eye on Andy while you’re at the hospital? 🙀

I’m a little concerned that the hospital social workers will call Adult Protective Services on you. It’s happened in my senior apartment building: someone falls repeatedly or appears to be struggling with self care, so they tag you as requiring assisted living or at least an aide to supervise your day to day activities. Sometimes they just pluck the person out of their apartment and take them to a long term care center, regardless of their protests. Not what anyone wants for themselves, regardless of one’s health! Paws crossed you recover soon! Your sister can’t come quickly enough.

    • Don’t wprry! Andy will do fine with the person who is helping out.

As for me. I can point out poorly executed or negligent city maintenance.

The one that sticks to.me is this last one that came after a period of illness.and the day after I has two consecutive four hours dialysis sessions to switch me from one that got me out in dark on bad surfaces. I doubt mere mortals are asked to stand after that! I will be bringing my concerns about that up.

      • Ohhh dear Doug, Amen to all you said here… we know what an ordeal it is dealing with anything ‘city’; ‘township’, ‘ordinance’…bureaucracy.. ..Heaven help us all..

    • We are definitely thinking of Andy and his well-being too… we won’t be fully at ease until Doug is home with Andy… and all is well again!! Your description of what can happen, is spot on and terrifying for those of us at a bit of an advanced age.. my husband’s and my mantra is “do not fall, do not fall, do not fall”… so as to steer clear of all that can go so terribly wrong in ‘the system’!! Thank you for caring about Andy!! And Doug!!

    • Hmmm well that last message from me was for Hangaku Gozen.. but somehow ended up below my message to Doug… ahah ‘the system’ at work.. exactly why we want to steer clear of it!!

      • Thank you for the reply! Yes, I worry about becoming a “target” for otherwise well meaning welfare agencies who might think I’m incapable of taking care of myself. I don’t have a cat at the moment, but the assisted living wing in my building doesn’t allow animals, not even seeing eye dogs, which I didn’t think was legal. A friend lives at an AL center that allows cats and small dogs, but they also charge a fortune for an aide to help care for her cat. You’re only allowed to bring so much stuff with you as well, so books, souvenirs from your past, clothes that might not be used now, not to mention furniture, have to go. It’s infuriating to lose your autonomy just because you’re aging and have some health issues. So I sincerely hope Doug and Andy get through this chapter quickly! The long winter can’t help things, either. I am hoping the ice and snow disappear soon!
