You might not guess it from that sweet, little face of his, but Andy can be a very bad boy when he wants to be. Today, it was refusal to be given his medication. Yeah, we (my brother and I) eventually caught him using the old Greenies treat method, but it was an hour-long process involving several strategic errors before that one moment Andy fell into my hands.

Andy was not happy to have his photo taken after the “medicine incident” — i.e. I caught and gave him his medicine…!
Giving Andy medicine takes seconds for administering the dose, but minutes to catch him. On good days (for me!), I just reach down and pick him up. This week,. though, Andy’s decided not to cooperate. Bad boy!

Andy plots his escape, forgetting he’s had the daily dose already. “I don’t like you!” he pouts out in Cattinese. “Sometimes I don’t like you either, buster!” I huff.
The bad feelings dissolve fast, though, and Andy and I return to our daily post-dose routines, Andy to watch birds out the back door and me to tell stories about the very bad kitty in my home. Best of all, Andy can’t present his side of the story!

Free, now, to watch birds out the back door! Andy’s (and my) mood lightens at the happy change of events.
Oh man it is so hard to catch them to get the meds down and I do not know how you get pills down.
I have to hide the advantage and sneak up on Ali with someone holding her to give her the flea treatment each month.
She is such a love bug til she sees that advantage tube and she is a raging lion then.
Ugh! Now that you bring it up, the boys have flea treatment coming up in a short time, too. Yet another joyous time at the ranch…! Of course, now that I have to catch Andy for one thing, I just add the flea stuff to the things I do for the little darling that day. Dougy, however, sees what I’m doing to Andy, then HE becomes had to catch! Give Ali a nice pat for me! She’s one of my favorite Internet cats, and certainly a beautiful one!
Ty so very much and your boys are our favs-such adorable faces and they make our hears smile.
It’s so difficult to give them their meds if they don’t want them 😡
And how! The little rascal is getting to be very clever in avoiding the inevitable!
Our little one always tries to be extra cute when she needs to take meds. Hoping that will get her out of it lol
🙂 SO she’s a little rascal, too! One thing about our cats, they are amazingly resourceful when it comes to avoiding medicine, eh!?
Haha indeed they are :). Nubia made a lovely studio glibi anime impression in her tunnel just to avoid her eye drops when she had conjunctivitis
I went through the eye drop thing with Dougy on two occasions…! That’s no fun either, eh!? Dougy’s a bit (very little bit) easier to medicate than Andy, but I could count on him turning his head moments before the eye drops hit the eye. I think I’ll use the swaddling technique (wrapping him in a towel) that I find works well with Andy if I ever have to give him eye drops again because that immobilizes the head a bit.
I feel the need to write a tips and tricks on how to give your cat medicine after our chats lol 🙂
