Thanksgiving! Who doesn’t look forward to this holiday? Food, family, fights, and football! It’s everything you could hope for in a holiday!
And more!
It’s also all about love, forgiveness, and sharing! Hope you have a great Thanksgiving, Canadian friends!
Thanksgiving is good but it can be … well … fattening!
And that’s the fun part of it!
Thank you so much Doug for thinking of us today.
Yeah and drooling!
Thank you for the warm wishes friends. We had our dinner last night so tonight is Bubble and Squeak night. No, that doesn’t mean mom puts a mouse in a bubble and we all poke em. It means fried mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts. Cold turkey too.

Yum! That’s the best part of Tnanksgiving, eh?! The leftovers! I’ve heard of bubble and squeak, but didn’t know what it was specifically. The best of both worlds: mashed yummy potatoes and brussels sprouts! Yeah! Yummy!
It was a great dinner. I followed this recipe that said to baste the bird with butter. The gravy was awesome and the skin scrumptious. My friend and I had a good look at each other and decided we need to go on a diet before Christmas comes. So next week is D Day.

You have a nice break between the holidays, unlike here, where they gang up on you and leave you 10 pounds heavier….!
We spread out the pounds but the result is the same.
Oh no! Come to think of it, we have Halloween at the end of the month, another caloric holiday that starts as soon as you buy the good candy that you end up eating before you have to buy the little boxes of raisins you replace the candy with to assure you don’t eat all the Halloween goodies before the kiddies come around….!
A drumstick in hand is worth two in the bush
Ha! Ha! And how!
Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends!
In friendship

In the USA, October 12th is “Columbus Day” holiday, a holiday that has come under fire in recent years because Columbus mistreated the natives so poorly, enslaving some to do labor, among other atrocities. Several US cities celebrate Indigenous Americans Day in its place, honoring American Indian natives.
I did not know that some celebrate Indigenous Americans Day. This is great. I truly believe the natives have had a tough road to hoe.
Columbus Day isn’t that old a holiday, and is observed mostly by by banks, government offices. and school children. More and more cities are going to the Indigenous Americans Day celebration, and I think we will see that become the holiday in the near future.
The boys from the old country never did have friendliness in mind but had the idea of riches and new discoveries for the homeland as top priorities.
Yeah, gold and any other riches they could take — spices, human beings, etc.!
